Chief Minister Holds State Level Committee Meeting On Sasci Projects

Aizawl : Today, Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma chaired the State Level SASCI Committee meeting at the CM Conference Hall, where discussions were held regarding the various ongoing and upcoming projects under SASCI funding.

Chairman Pu Lalduhoma highlighted the importance of moral reforms in the state, pointing out that the government has been taking several steps to ensure that schemes are effectively implemented, while also addressing the need for revisions in some projects to ensure they remain up to date. He emphasized the importance of the Project Monitoring Committee in overseeing the implementation of these projects.

In addition, the Mizoram government has proposed funding of Rs. 275 crore under SASCI 2024-25 Part 1 for the following projects:

  1. Reconstruction of Central Jail and seven district jails.
  2. Augmentation of Aizawl Water Supply & Construction of 37 MLD Water Treatment Plant.
  3. Upgradation of Lunglei Water Supply Scheme (New Pumping main Line, water treatment plant, extension of pump house, new pump set, SCADA & New distribution lines).
  4. Strengthening of Aizawl Water Supply Scheme (Vertical Extension of weir, provision of feeder lines with storage and new T-cluster configuration).
  5. Construction of teachers’ quarters in 11 districts.
  6. Modernization of ITI, Aizawl.
  7. 2nd Evacuation Line of 60Mw Tuirial HEP.
  8. Government quarters type 5&6 at Aizawl.

The government (UD&PA) has also proposed Rs. 300 crore for reform-linked incentives, which will fund:

  1. Construction of storm drains & drainage networks in urban areas (all districts).
  2. Construction of Integrated Office Complex at MINECO.
  3. Construction of General Pool of Government Quarters at Lunglei, Siaha, Serchhip, Lawngtlai, Kawnpui & Bairabi.
  4. Construction of State Emergency Operation Centre & Public Safety & Disaster Relief & Communication System.
  5. Construction of Market Building at Vaivakawn.
  6. Construction of New Campus for Govt. Aizawl West College.
  7. Upgradation of Directorate of Eco & Statistics.
  8. Construction of Approach road to IGC complex Luangmual.
  9. Construction of Circuit House at Siaha, Serchhip & Saitual.

Land reforms initiatives have also been launched, with a Rs. 15.18 crore allocation under SASCI Part 7 from the Central government. These projects include:

  1. Upgradation of Khankawn to Champhai road.
  2. Construction of DC Revenue Office at Keifang tlang.
  3. Construction of DC Revenue Office at Mamit.

SASCI Part 10 (Working Women Hostel Construction) will see Rs. 127 crore allocated for projects such as:

  1. Construction of working women hostel at Khatla, Aizawl.
  2. Construction of working women hostel at ZMC, Falkawn.
  3. Construction of working women hostel at Champhai.
  4. Construction of working women hostel at ITI, Aizawl.
  5. Construction of working women hostel at Ramhlun Sports Complex, Aizawl.
  6. Construction of working women hostel at Ramthar Veng, Lunglei.
  7. Construction of working women hostel at Thenzawl.

Many of these projects have already been sanctioned and will be implemented soon. In the previous year (2023-24), SASCI saw Rs. 500 crore allocated for various public works projects, and 91 of 117 projects have been completed successfully.

Notable projects from the SASCI 2023-24 plan include:

  1. Recreation Centre at Babu Tlang Zarkawt.
  2. Mini Sports Complex at Chanmari Veng, Aizawl.
  3. Construction of Bypass Road at Hunthar Cemetery towards Middle School.
  4. Aizawl West Outlet Project between Tuikual and MINECO Road.
  5. New Age Multifaceted Urban Centre at Mission Veng, Aizawl, Mizoram.
  6. Construction of Civil Services Guest House at Aizawl.
  7. Construction of Aizawl Municipal Corporation Building at Aizawl.
  8. Construction of Multi-Utility Building cum Parking Near Ebenezer Hospital at Aizawl.
  9. Improvement of Aizawl Water Supply Scheme.
  10. Construction of residential quarters for Police personnel.
  11. Construction of Unity Mall.
  12. Children & Adolescents libraries & digital infrastructure.

The meeting was attended by Pu K. Sapdanga, Home Minister, Dr. Vanlalthlana, Education Minister, Pi Lalrinpuii, Health Minister, Pu F. Rodingliana, Industry Minister, Prof. Lalnilawma, PHE Minister, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Sports Minister, Pu TBC Lalvenchhunga, Adviser to CM, and other senior officials.
