Focus on Revenue Enhancement through Modern Technology – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
Mumbai : The State Excise Department plays a pivotal role in generating revenue for the government. To boost revenue, the department must implement innovative strategies and focus on utilizing modern technology, directed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Chief Minister Fadnavis conducted a review meeting at Sahyadri Guest House regarding the 100-day action plan of the State Excise Department.
The meeting was attended by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal, Minister of State for Medical Education Madhuri Misal, Minister of State for Public Health Meghana Bordikar, Minister of State for Revenue Yogesh Kadam, and Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, among other officials.
Chief Minister Fadnavis noted that out of the 134 services notified under the Service Guarantee Act in this department, 62 services are already operational, and the remaining 72 services will be made available online soon. He emphasized the need to integrate advanced technological tools in various processes of the State Excise Department.
He also instructed the department to install digital locks on vehicles transporting liquor and to design processes that instill fear among offenders. Measures should be taken to curb illegal alcohol production, transportation, and sale, he added.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Planning) Rajgopal Devara, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) O.P. Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of the State Excise Department Milind Mhaiskar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department Rajesh Kumar, Chief Minister’s Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Kharge, Principal Secretary Ashwini Bhide, and Secretary Dr. Shrikar Pardeshi, among others.
