Guwahati High Court Chief Justice Inaugurates Siaha District Court Building
Siaha : The new Siaha District Court Building was inaugurated today at 2:00 PM by Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, Shri Vijay Bisnoy.
Justice Nelson Sailo, Judge of the Gauhati High Court and Portfolio Judge for Lunglei Judicial District, delivered a speech expressing gratitude and extended greetings to the attendees.
Hon’ble Chief Justice Vijay Bisnoy addressed the gathering, which included leaders of the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC), officials from various government departments, and representatives of NGOs. He conveyed his appreciation for the efforts put into the construction of the new court building and extended New Year wishes to all. The Chief Justice expressed satisfaction with the completion of the building, noting that it is well-constructed and fully equipped. He emphasized the importance of diligent efforts in maintaining justice and ensuring the court remains a place of fairness and integrity. He was accompanied by his wife, Smt. Suman Bisnoy.
Justice Michael Zothankhuma, Judge of the Gauhati High Court and Portfolio Judge for Aizawl and Kolasib Districts, also spoke during the occasion. Additionally, Pu Zodingliana, Senior Executive Engineer of the Lunglei Building Project Division, presented a detailed project report.
The Siaha District Court Building was constructed under a Centrally Sponsored Scheme at a total cost of ₹18 crore. The contractor for the project was Pu F. Sangkunga from Venghlui, Aizawl. Construction began on 10th September 2018 and was scheduled to be completed by 21st March 2021. However, due to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and other difficulties, the main building was officially completed on 22nd April 2023, with furniture installation and related works finalized today. The building spans a total area of 4,395.92 sq.m.
The construction was overseen by a team of 24 PWD engineers under the following categories:
- Engineer-in-Chief – 7 engineers
- Chief Engineer – 3 engineers
- Superintending Engineer (Project Circle, Aizawl) – 4 engineers
- Executive Engineer (Lunglei Building Project Division) – 5 engineers
- Sub-Divisional Officer (Siaha Building Project Sub-Division) – 3 engineers
- Junior Engineer (Siaha Building Project Sub-Division) – 2 engineers
Pu Vanlalenmawia, District and Sessions Judge of Lunglei Judicial District, concluded the program with a vote of thanks, marking the end of the inaugural event.
