‘Tata Mumbai International Marathon’ is a Celebration of Harmony, Unity, Culture, and Diversity – Sports Minister Dattatray Bharne

Mumbai : The Tata Mumbai International Marathon is a celebration of harmony, unity, culture, and diversity. Let us all come together to make this marathon a success on January 19, urged Dattatray Bharne, Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare.

He was speaking at the Ringing Bell Ceremony of the Tata Mumbai International Marathon, held at the Viewing Gallery of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal. Former Minister and MLA Chhagan Bhujbal, Additional Chief Secretary of the Sports Department Anil Diggikar, along with event organizers Vivek Singh, Ujjwal Mathur, T. Narayan, and sponsors’ representatives were present.

Minister Bharne said, “From the moment the ringing bell rings, there are 4 days, 10 hours, and 50 minutes left, marking the countdown. The Tata Mumbai Marathon is one of the top ten international marathons in the world. It has the highest prize money and the most participants in India and Asia. The marathon is renowned for its prestige.”

He further stated that the Tata Mumbai Marathon is a source of pride for Mumbai and Maharashtra, with over 60,000 runners from across the globe participating. The commitment, determination, and enthusiasm of sponsors like Tata, IDFC First Bank, and TCS have helped position India on the global running map. British runner Mo Farah, one of the most successful track athletes, will be the international event ambassador this year. His presence will inspire both professional and amateur runners, Minister Bharne added.

Former Minister and MLA Chhagan Bhujbal also shared his thoughts at the event.

He mentioned, “It is a tradition worldwide to start any major event with the ringing of a bell. Today, we mark the beginning of the historic journey of the Tata Mumbai International Marathon.”
