₹1 Crore Grant Announced for State-Level Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Wrestling, and Volleyball Tournaments in the Name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj: Deputy CM Ajit Pawar
Mumbai : Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar inaugurated the 23rd Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj State-Level Kabaddi Tournament today evening in Baramati. The tournament was jointly organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services of the Maharashtra government and the Maharashtra Sports Association.
During his interaction with players, coaches, and kabaddi enthusiasts at the event, Deputy CM Pawar announced an increase in the grant for the four state-level tournaments — Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Wrestling, and Volleyball — held in the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The grant, previously ₹75 lakhs, has now been raised to ₹1 crore.
This decision is expected to boost the promotion of indigenous sports and the development of athletes in Maharashtra. The sports community has widely welcomed this announcement, acknowledging its potential to strengthen grassroots sports initiatives.
