Republic Day 2025 – Shri Ghanshyam Singh, Deputy Commandant of Home Guard Department, Awarded the Meritorious Service Medal

Jaipur : The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has announced the conferment of the Meritorious Service Medal on Shri Ghanshyam Singh, Deputy Commandant of the Home Guard and Civil Defence Department, Central Training Institute, Jaipur, on the eve of Republic Day.

Director General and Chief Commandant of Home Guards, Shri Rajesh Nirvan, informed that during his service, Shri Singh participated in Operation Parakram with the Indian Army in January 2002, demonstrating exemplary leadership. During the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, under his leadership, a company was deployed with the Central Armed Police Forces in the highly sensitive and Maoist-affected areas of Gaya and Banka districts in Bihar, where he made commendable contributions, earning him an award from the SP of Banka.

In addition to a cash reward, Shri Singh was honored with a commendation disc from the Director General for his continuous performance, discipline, integrity, as well as his deep sense of dedication and responsibility towards his duties. Over his 23 years of service, he dedicated 16 years as a trainer at the Central Training Institute. As Battalion Commandant of Border Home Guards in Bikaner and Barmer, he worked with dedication to expand the deployment of his unit.

Due to his proactive approach, integrity, exemplary leadership skills, and dedication beyond duty, Shri Singh has become a valuable asset to the department.
