10th Convocation Ceremony of Agricultural University to be Held on February 1

The 10th convocation ceremony of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur, is scheduled for tomorrow, February 1, 2025. The event will commence at 11 AM at the Agricultural Mandapam of the Agricultural College, Raipur, where degrees will be conferred upon approximately 4,191 students.

The convocation will be presided over by the Governor and Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Mr. Ramen Deka. Dr. Vanga Shiva Reddy, former Director of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, New Delhi, will deliver the convocation address. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr. Girish Chandel, will administer the convocation pledge. During the event, meritorious students will be honored with 16 gold, 18 silver, and 24 bronze medals. A grand academic procession will also be organized on this occasion.

Degrees and medals will be awarded to students who graduated during the academic years 2022-23 and 2023-24. This includes 2,841 students from the B.Sc. Agriculture program, 17 from the B.Sc. Horticulture program, 303 from the B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering program, and 20 students from the College of Food Technology. Additionally, 742 postgraduate and 268 Ph.D. students will receive their degrees. A total of 818 students will also be awarded honors certificates at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. levels.

A specific academic dress code has been prescribed for the graduates. Male students will wear a kosa-colored or off-white kurta with white pajama, while female students will wear a kosa-colored or off-white saree. Guests attending the convocation will wear a kosa-colored jacket. The event will also be attended by members of the university’s governing board, academic council, and administrative council, along with deans and department heads from affiliated colleges under the university.
