Easier Access to Medical Assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund

Review of Diseases, Revision of Financial Aid, and Hospital Empanelment Criteria Committee Formed

Mumbai : To streamline medical assistance under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), a committee has been formed to review eligible diseases, revise financial aid allocations, and set hospital empanelment criteria. A government resolution has been issued regarding this, as informed by CMRF Cell Head Rameshwar Naik.

Committee Members:

The committee will be chaired by the Director of Medical Education & Research (Mumbai) and will include:

  • Director of Health Services (Mumbai)
  • Director of AYUSH (Mumbai)
  • Deans of J.J. Hospital Group and Lokmanya Tilak Memorial Hospital (Sion)
  • CM’s Advisor Dr. Anand Bang
  • Former Directors of Medical Education & Research – Dr. Pravin Shingare & Dr. Tatya Rao Lahane
  • Director of Asian Cancer Institute, Dr. Ramakant Deshpande
  • Secretary, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Medical Foundation (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Dr. Ashwinikumar Tupkari
  • Former Dean of K.E.M Hospital (Mumbai), Dr. Avinash Supe
  • Academic Director, Tata Memorial Center (Parel, Mumbai), Dr. Shripad Banavali
  • Director, Kaushalya Charitable Hospital (Thane), Dr. Sanjay Oak
  • Head of Nephrology, Bombay Hospital (Mumbai), Dr. Bichchu Shrirang
  • COO of P.D. Hinduja Hospital (Mumbai), Dr. Joy Chakraborty
  • Head of Cardiology, Nair Hospital (Mumbai), Dr. Ajay Chaurasia

  • CMRF Cell Officer from the Chief Minister’s Office, serving as Member Secretary

Committee’s Key Responsibilities:

The committee will:

  • Review the existing 20 eligible diseases and recommend the inclusion of new diseases.
  • Determine financial aid allocations by revising assistance amounts for various treatments.
  • Set criteria for hospital empanelment under CMRF, aligning them with Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and other government healthcare schemes.
  • Define documentation requirements for accident cases (excluding road accidents).

The committee will also provide recommendations on medical treatment queries raised by the CMRF Cell, ensuring timely and effective financial assistance to patients in need.
