“Bijapur: 33 Naxalites Surrender Arms, CM Expresses Joy”
Raipur: Disturbed by the ideology of Maoists and influenced by the surrender and resettlement policy of the Chhattisgarh government, Naxalites are continuously abandoning their weapons and reintegrating into mainstream society. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has expressed happiness over the surrender of 33 Naxalites in Bijapur district. He has emphasized the government’s commitment to rehabilitating surrendered Naxalites.
On his social media platform X, he wrote: “It is heartening that 33 Maoists from Bijapur district surrendered to the police, disillusioned with the Maoist ideology and impressed by the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the Chhattisgarh government. Among them, 3 Maoists had bounties of Rs 5 lakh each. Maoists are encouraged to lay down their arms and rejoin society. Our government stands ready to facilitate their reintegration. Congratulations to the police and security forces for this significant achievement.” It is noteworthy that the Vishnu government has initiated the “Niyad Nellanar Yojana,” translating to “Your Better Village” scheme, aimed at the development of tribal areas. The government is ensuring access to basic facilities in villages, with security camps established in Naxal-affected regions, serving as relief centers for villagers. The surrender and resettlement policy have contributed to Naxalites relinquishing their weapons. Notably, among the thirty-three surrendered Naxalites, 3 had bounties of five lakhs each.
