10th Convocation Ceremony of Agricultural University on February 1

Raipur : The 10th convocation ceremony of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur, will be held on February 1, 2025. The event will take place at Krishi Mandapam, Agriculture College, Raipur, starting at 11 AM. A total of 4,191 students will be awarded degrees during the ceremony. The event will be presided over by Governor and Chancellor of the University, Shri Ramen Deka.

Dr. Vanga Shiva Reddy, former Director of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, New Delhi, will deliver the convocation address. The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Girish Chandel, will address the students. A total of 16 gold, 18 silver, and 4 bronze medals will be awarded to meritorious students. A grand convocation procession will also be held.

Ahead of the main event, a rehearsal was conducted today, following the planned schedule of the convocation. It began from the Cluster Classroom of Agriculture College to the main venue, Krishi Mandapam. The rehearsal was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, Directors, and medal-winning students. The university anthem, state anthem, and national anthem were played during the event.

The convocation will recognize graduates from the academic years 2022-23 and 2023-24. Degrees will be conferred to:

• 2,841 students from B.Sc. Agriculture,
• 17 students from B.Sc. Horticulture,
• 303 students from B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering,
• 20 students from Food Technology,
• 742 postgraduate students, and
• 268 Ph.D. students.

Additionally, 818 students will be awarded Honors Certificates in undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs.

A designated academic dress code has been set for students:

• Male students will wear kosa-colored or off-white kurtas with white pyjamas,
• Female students will wear kosa-colored or off-white sarees,
• Guests will wear kosa-colored jackets.

The convocation will also be attended by members of the university’s Board of Management, Academic Council, and Administrative Council, along with deans and department heads from all affiliated colleges.
