Call to Provide Complete Information in the Health Survey of National Sample Survey
Mumbai : The Directorate of Economics and Statistics of the state is participating in the national-level survey on ‘Health-Related Expenditures of Households,’ under the authority of the Government of India’s National Statistical Office. The data collection for this survey will take place from January to December 2025. Detailed information will be collected from selected households about their health-related expenditures over the past 365 days. The findings from this survey will be useful for improving the healthcare sector and for planning and policy implementation by both central and state governments.
The conclusions drawn from the data collected from selected households will be projected for the population of the state. The Commissioner of Economics and Statistics and the Director of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Mumbai, have appealed to all the members of the selected households to fully cooperate in understanding the household selection process, the importance of the survey, and to provide accurate and complete information about health-related expenditures.
This survey will be conducted across all districts of the state, with the main objective being to gather information on the costs of treatments received at government and private hospitals, the health-related expenses of households, vaccination data for all age groups, and details of the facilities provided to pregnant women, among other factors. The selection of households for the survey will be based on criteria such as ‘households with children under one year of age’ and ‘households with a member who was hospitalized in the past 365 days.’ The results of this survey will be used to enhance the healthcare sector and assist in the implementation of government policies and decisions. Accurate and high-quality data from the survey is crucial for making effective decisions at the national and state levels.
In this regard, officials and staff involved in data collection have been trained. Regional officers and staff have been trained, and these trained personnel will visit the selected households from February 2025 to December 2025 to collect the required information in the prescribed format, as per the notice issued by the Commissioner of Economics and Statistics and the Director of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Mumbai.
