Madhya Pradesh will be an Ideal Investment Destination with Japans Cooperation: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav returned to India on the evening of Saturday, February 1, after completing his four-day visit to Japan (January 28-31). Addressing media representatives in New Delhi, he stated that during his visit, he invited Japanese investors and industrialists to participate in the Global Investors Summit scheduled to be held in Bhopal on February 24-25.
Dr. Yadav mentioned that Japanese companies have shown a deep interest in investing in Madhya Pradesh, and several major companies will take part in the upcoming summit. He held Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings with various Japanese industrialists and investors, as well as Government-to-Government (G2G) discussions with senior officials of the Japanese government, exploring detailed investment opportunities in the state.
Approval for Japan-Madhya Pradesh Industrial Cooperation Forum
A proposal to establish the Japan-Madhya Pradesh Industrial Cooperation Forum has been approved. This initiative will soon lead to the development of a Japanese Industrial Park, Skill Development Centers, and Smart Manufacturing Hubs in Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, a Japan Plus Cell will be set up to ensure continuous engagement and follow-ups with Japanese investors.
Dr. Yadav personally invited Japanese industrialists and investors to participate in Global Investors Summit (GIS-2025) in February, which will create new investment opportunities.
Japan to Be the Country Partner for the Global Investors Summit
The Chief Minister announced that Japan will be the “Country Partner” for the Global Investors Summit this time, further strengthening economic and industrial cooperation between the two nations.
He also highlighted that Japanese companies have expressed their willingness to invest in medical devices, automobiles, manufacturing, electronics, and the textile (ready-made garments) sectors in Madhya Pradesh. Japanese investments will propel the state’s industrial growth to new heights.
With Japan’s support, Madhya Pradesh is progressing towards becoming an “Ideal Investment Destination” and an “Industry-Friendly State.
Favorable Environment for Investment in Madhya Pradesh
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that his government is providing excellent infrastructure, simplified investment policies, and a highly favorable environment for industrial development. He assured Japanese investors that they could invest in Madhya Pradesh without hesitation, as the state government would extend all possible support. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted that Japan is currently the fifth-largest investor in India, having made Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) of over $38 billion in the past two decades. The bilateral trade between the two nations stands at approximately $20 billion and is continuously growing. Several leading Japanese companies are already successfully operating in Madhya Pradesh.
Bridgestone has established a world-class tire manufacturing plant in Pithampur, significantly contributing to employment generation and exports. Panasonic has also marked its presence in the state. Companies like NSK, Sano, and Komatsu are actively working in Madhya Pradesh, contributing to the automotive and machinery sectors. Exports from Madhya Pradesh to Japan are steadily increasing, reflecting the strengthening trade relations between the two regions.
Historic Meeting with Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized that Tokyo is one of the world’s most advanced metropolitan economies, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of approximately $1 trillion. During a meeting with Governor Yuriko Koike, discussions were held on new dimensions of urban development. Madhya Pradesh will benefit from the expertise of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in areas such as: Metro rail technology for Bhopal and Indore, Smart city solutions, Water and waste management. This collaboration marks an essential step towards adopting Tokyo’s development model in Madhya Pradesh.
High-Level Talks at Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that his meeting with Mr. Hisashi Matsumoto, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was highly significant. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted his discussion with Mr. Toshiyuki Nakahara, Department General Manager, Administration & Support Division, Toyota Motor Corporation. Toyota, a global leader in the automotive industry, expressed keen interest in National Automotive Test Tracks and electric vehicle manufacturing in Madhya Pradesh. An agreement was reached to strengthen the automotive supply chain and establish a Skill Development Center in collaboration with Toyota, which will give a new direction to the state’s automotive sector.
Bridgestone Corporation: Expansion Plans in Madhya Pradesh
In a meeting with Global CEO Mr. Shuichi Ishibashi, several key decisions were made. Bridgestone, one of the world’s largest tire manufacturers, will expand its existing unit in Madhya Pradesh. Plans include setting up a new production line, an R&D center, and a skill development center. Dr. Yadav met with Sysmex Corporation, a leading Japanese medical technology company, in Kobe. Sysmex, operating in India since 1993, is already active in government civil hospitals in Madhya Pradesh. The company aims to expand its expertise in diagnostics within the state. Dr. Yadav held a high-level discussion with Panasonic Energy’s Executive Vice President regarding the company’s expansion plans in India. During a meeting with Mr. Toshiyuki Shirai, Chairman of Nitori Holdings, the company discussed its India expansion plans. A&D Medical Devices: Partnership Opportunities
Dr. Yadav’s meeting with Mr. Daiki Arai highlighted A&D’s long-standing presence in India since 1986. The company currently operates through Gurugram, selling BP monitors, nebulizers, blood sugar monitors, and weight measurement devices. A&D proposed a ¥200 million (₹12 crore) investment in a home-based monitoring system, targeting 20,000 units in the first year. The Madhya Pradesh government introduced A&D to Ujjain Medical Device Park and the state’s supportive policies for the medical sector.

Discussions focused on India-Japan relations, especially the roles of both countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
Meeting with Technocraft Limited
Dr. Yadav met with Mr. Sharad Sharaf, Chairman of Technocraft Limited and IIT Mumbai & Jammu & Kashmir Chairman. Mr. Sharaf shared plans to establish a scaffolding manufacturing unit near Ujjain, which will help position Madhya Pradesh as a major hub for construction equipment manufacturing. The project is expected to create new job opportunities and provide high-tech training to the state’s skilled youth. Mr. Sharaf also discussed plans to offer advanced technical skill development training at the state’s technical education institutions and the application of Japanese technology.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav shared that a diaspora dialogue was held with the Indian community residing in Japan and friends of Madhya Pradesh at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. The Chief Minister urged the Indian diaspora to contribute to the development of Madhya Pradesh and invest in the state. The Japanese industrial community showed great interest in Madhya Pradesh’s development potential during the roadshows in Tokyo and Osaka. He expressed personal joy about the efforts to establish a Japanese industrial park, the incorporation of the Japanese model in skill development, and the active participation of Japanese companies in the Global Investors Summit in February 2025.
Kyoto Visit – Coordinating Heritage Conservation and Development
Dr. Yadav informed that the visit to key historical sites in Kyoto, including the Sanjusangendo Temple, Nijo Castle, and Taji Temple, presented an excellent model of modern management of traditional heritage. Kyoto has balanced its ancient heritage with modern development, which serves as an ideal example for Madhya Pradesh. After this visit, it was decided to adopt Japanese techniques and management practices for the conservation of heritage sites. Specifically, Japanese methods will be used for the management of Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, the Buddhist complex at Sanchi, and the temples of Khajuraho. The focus will be on developing smart tourist facilities, modern display techniques, and eco-friendly infrastructure. Furthermore, tourism will be linked to economic development with the participation of local communities. Kyoto’s experience will play a significant role in the development of the Buddhist Circuit, and Buddhist sites from Sanchi to Devani-Jakhora will be developed as attractive destinations for Japanese tourists. This will not only promote tourism but also strengthen cultural ties between both countries.

Dr. Yadav stated that the Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2025, scheduled to be held on February 24-25 in Bhopal, is poised to be an unprecedented platform for global investment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the summit on February 24.
Summit Highlights
The Chief Minister informed that the Global Investors Summit will feature four major departmental conferences (IT, Energy, Tourism, MSMEs), a special diaspora session, sectoral sessions, and a buyer-seller meet. There will also be an exhibition of new technologies along with an auto and textile expo. The unique “One District-One Product” exhibition will showcase the state’s diversity.
State Preparations
The state has conducted extensive outreach programs in preparation for the Global Investors Summit. Successful regional conferences were held in the Gwalior-Chambal, Mahakoshal-Vindhya, and Malwa-Nimar regions, with active participation from local industries, resulting in several important investment proposals.
National and International Programs
Roadshows held in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Coimbatore, and Kolkata received positive responses from large companies and startups. At the international level, exhibitions in the UK and Germany attracted global investors’ attention, particularly in the automotive, IT, and pharma sectors, leading to significant partnership opportunities.

Dr. Yadav mentioned that seven regional industry conclaves, five national interactive sessions, and three international sessions were held in various countries. As a result of these efforts, Madhya Pradesh has received investment proposals worth ₹4.17 lakh crore, which are expected to generate 4.5 lakh jobs.

The GIS-2025 will not only be a platform for investment but also a new chapter in India-Japan industrial cooperation, with Madhya Pradesh playing a central role. To make Madhya Pradesh a global investment hub, the state has decided to establish a Japan Plus Cell in the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation, where a dedicated team will follow up regularly with Japanese investors.
He emphasized that this trip is not just about investment and technical cooperation but also about writing a new development story through the blending of two cultures. This partnership between Madhya Pradesh and Japan will set a new model for India’s development in the future.
