NEW DELHI, June 2026 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has questioned the SIT (Special Investigation Team) constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the theft of offerings at Shri Ram Mandir, calling it ‘farzi’ (fake) and raising doubts over its legal basis. He said the government must explain under which law and section the SIT has been formed, revealing that legally no SIT can be set up without an FIR (First Information Report).

The AAP Chief asserted that the SIT has only been constituted to cover up the matter, protect influential individuals and mislead the public, while adding that every Hindu and Sanatani is asking why no FIR has been registered.

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal stated that an SIT has been formed to investigate the theft of offerings at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. He said, “The SIT has no real powers. Under the law, no SIT can be formed without an FIR. I want to ask under which section of which law this SIT has been constituted. There is no such provision. This SIT has no power to summon anyone, no power to arrest anyone, and no power to conduct raids. It cannot do anything. It has only been created to cover up the matter, to hush it up, and to protect the big names involved.”

He recalled formation of a similar SIT and said, “In 2021, allegations had surfaced of major leaders and officials purchasing land in Ayodhya and carrying out large-scale irregularities. Even then an SIT was formed, but no FIR was registered. Even today, there is no trace of that SIT. In a few days, people will forget about this SIT as well. This SIT is also not going to do anything.”

The AAP Supremo added that media reports suggest the SIT is only questioning and detaining small employees. “If such large-scale theft of offerings had been going on for months or years, it could not have happened without the involvement or protection of higher authorities. The real perpetrators are being shielded while only lower-level staff are being investigated,” he asserted.

Arvind Kejriwal questioned, “If their intention is truly to catch the real culprits, then why is this matter not being handed over to the CBI and ED? Today every Hindu and every Sanatani is asking why no FIR has been registered yet and why the case is not being transferred to the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) and ED (Enforcement Directorate).”

Meanwhile, AAP MP and Uttar Pradesh Prabhari Sanjay Singh stated that he had been saying from day one that the SIT is merely a “jhunjhuna.” He recalled that CM Yogi Adityanath had delivered a long speech saying that anyone with evidence should submit it to the SIT instead of speaking outside. “I knew the SIT is of no use, yet on June 20 I wrote to the SIT and sent an email seeking time to submit evidence,” he said.

The senior AAP leader asserted, “I have evidence that land worth ₹2 crore was purchased for ₹18.5 crore, land worth ₹3 crore was bought for ₹24 crore, and land worth ₹9 crore was purchased for ₹55 crore 37 lakh. The Ram Mandir witnessed massive corruption and dishonesty. 260 kg of silver has been stolen, Bhagwan Ram’s padukas and necklace have also been stolen, yet no arrest has been made. Even after recovery of stolen offerings and donations, no FIR has been registered. Instead, those involved continue to sit on stage and conduct events.”

Sanjay Singh added, “These ‘chanda-chors’ are being protected, which clearly means the entire ‘ED Party’ from top to bottom is involved. No ED or CBI investigation has taken place so far. Since the Supreme Court formed the trust, there should have been a time-bound SIT under its monitoring, and the guilty should have been sent to jail to restore public trust. Instead, only formalities and speeches are happening.”

He said, “The Prime Minister formed this trust on the Supreme Court’s directions and filled it with his own people. RSS and ED Party-linked individuals are openly involved in land scams and theft of offerings, and the loot flows from top to bottom. This is not a small theft but a scam worth thousands of crores. They are using Ram Mandir money to buy MLAs and MPs and shape politics across the country. Is the Ram Mandir a place of faith or a centre of loot?”

Sanjay Singh affirmed, “I have repeatedly said that while Mahmud of Ghazni looted the Somnath Mandir, the ED Party has looted the Shri Ram Mandir.” He also mentioned that even a silver idol of the Kakabhushundi donated by a devotee was stolen.
