Delhiites are getting free electricity, water, healthcare, and women’s bus travel because they pressed ‘jhaadu’ button: CM Atishi
New Delhi : Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh addressed huge Jansabhas on Friday in Kasturba Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Kalkaji, and Okhla, urging people to vote for AAP candidates. He highlighted the transformation under Arvind Kejriwal—world-class schools, hospitals, free electricity, water, and bus travel for women. Government schools now have AC classrooms, sports facilities, and swimming pools. “Every Delhiite benefits from this progress and will re-elect Arvind Kejriwal,” he said.
Chief Minister Atishi warned that voting for the BJP would end these welfare schemes. “If you fall for their deception, you’ll regret it for five years,” she said.
Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh reminded voters of their crucial role in democracy. He said that on February 5, when Delhi votes, three parties will be in the race, but the power lies with the people. “Whoever you choose will become your MLA, MP, minister, chief minister, or even prime minister. When you go to vote, remember the work done by Arvind Kejriwal,” he said.
He recalled how, during Arvind Kejriwal’s second term, government schools were in poor condition, with students sitting on mats in classrooms filled with cobwebs. “Today, those same schools have air-conditioned classrooms, athletic and hockey fields, and swimming pools,” he added.
Sanjay Singh also recounted an incident from 2020 when former U.S. President Donald Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, visited India. “She specifically expressed her desire to see Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia’s government schools,” he said, emphasizing the global recognition of Delhi’s education reforms.
Sanjay Singh recalled how, when Arvind Kejriwal visited slum areas, women would come forward and tell him how they had to pawn their jewelry to pay electricity bills, which would often be as high as ₹10,000. He said, “Understanding their struggle, Arvind Kejriwal, upon becoming Chief Minister, made electricity free, reduced water bills to zero, set up Mohalla Clinics, ensured free medicines, and made bus travel free for women.”
“Today, in every street and neighborhood of Delhi, people chant: ‘Bijli ka bill hai zero, aur Kejriwal hai hero.’ If we have worked for you, then on February 5, press the ‘jhaadu’ (AAP’s electoral symbol) and ensure an Aam Aadmi Party victory,” he said.
He warned that if the BJP came to power, they would immediately stop free electricity, water, schools, hospitals, and Mohalla Clinics. “Women’s free bus travel and senior citizens’ pilgrimage schemes will be discontinued. But more than anything, BJP leaders are enemies of slum dwellers.”
“If they come to power, they will demolish your homes. But let me tell you, when bulldozers arrive at your doorsteps, Sanjay Singh, Arvind Kejriwal, and every AAP worker will stand in their way,” he assured.
Sanjay Singh accused the BJP of spreading lies. “PM Modi promised two crore jobs every year for the youth. In 2014, he said he would bring back black money and deposit ₹15 lakh in every Indian’s account, but no one received a single rupee. Instead, our mothers and sisters, who had saved money in their homes, were told by PM Modi that their savings were black money and forced to deposit them in banks during demonetization.”
He then highlighted Arvind Kejriwal’s initiative to provide ₹2,100 per month under the “Mahila Samman Yojana” for women. “Those who haven’t filled out the form yet can complete their registration after February 5,” he added.
During the event, a woman shared how Arvind Kejriwal’s welfare schemes had transformed her family’s finances. “There are four women in our household, and under the Mahila Samman Yojana, we will receive ₹8,400. Under the Sanjeevani Yojana, my elderly father-in-law will get free medical treatment.”
“By using Mohalla Clinics instead of private hospitals, our family saves around ₹2,500 every month. Free bus travel for the four women in our house helps us save ₹4,000. Our four children study in government schools, which saves us about ₹8,000 in education costs. Now that bus travel for students is also free, we will save another ₹1,000 every month. With free electricity, we save ₹1,600, and free water saves us ₹1,000. In total, thanks to Arvind Kejriwal’s schemes, we save ₹31,500 every month,” she explained.
Sanjay Singh emphasized that an average Delhi household saves approximately ₹31,500 every month due to Arvind Kejriwal’s free welfare schemes. “The BJP cannot provide this relief. So, if you press the Jhaadu button, you save ₹31,500; if you press the lotus button (BJP’s electoral symbol), you lose ₹31,500. If you want to benefit, you must choose the Jhaadu,” he declared.
He affirmed that the Aam Aadmi Party is set to form the government in Delhi with Arvind Kejriwal as Chief Minister. “That’s why you must elect an AAP MLA from your constituency. Voting for Congress is a waste of your vote. If the BJP wins, they will demolish your homes. So, vote for the Jhaadu,” he urged.
“Jhaadu is a powerful tool,” he continued. “Whether it’s cleaning your shop, house, or neighborhood—or cleaning up Delhi—you need a Jhaadu. And with this same Jhaadu, we will also rid the BJP of their arrogance,” he said.
AAP candidate from Kalkaji and Delhi CM Atishi, emphasized the long-term impact of a single vote, stating, “We vote on one day, but its effect lasts for five years. If the right government and the right MLA are elected, the people benefit for five years.”
“But during elections, various people try to mislead you—some intimidate, some deceive, some lure with false promises. If you cast your vote in the wrong place, no amount of regret can change your decision for the next five years,” he said.
Chief Minister Atishi reminded the people that five years ago, they had pressed the Jhaadu button and elected Arvind Kejriwal with a massive mandate. “Look at how much that one vote has benefited you over the past five years. Today, Delhi receives 24-hour electricity,” she said.
“This summer, when temperatures soared to 50 degrees, there were no power cuts in Delhi. Nowhere else in the country does electricity remain available round the clock—except in Delhi. In Noida, Faridabad, and Gurugram, people face power cuts of up to six hours. People never imagined they would get uninterrupted electricity, that too for free,” she stated.
CM Atishi stated that Delhi receives free electricity today because five years ago, the people pressed the Jhaadu button. “Now, the BJP will come and ask you to press the lotus button. But remember, the lotus button is dangerous. Wherever the BJP is in power, people receive electricity bills of at least ₹5,000. If you press the lotus button, from next month onwards, you will start getting a ₹5,000 electricity bill. So, do not press the lotus button.”
She further highlighted the transformation of Delhi’s government schools under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership. “Ten years ago, government schools were in terrible condition. Their roofs leaked, toilets were so filthy that girls avoided using them all day, teachers would sit in class knitting sweaters, and students had to sit on floor mats with no access to clean drinking water,” she said.
CM Atishi stated, “Today, Arvind Kejriwal has completely transformed government schools. Multi-story buildings have been built, students have proper chairs and tables, clean drinking water, and well-maintained toilets. Schools now have science and computer labs, providing the same facilities as private schools. If the BJP comes to power, within a year, they will destroy these schools. In BJP-ruled states, government schools operate out of tin sheds. So, if you want good schools, press the Jhaadu button.”
Chief Minister Atishi stated that Delhi’s Mohalla Clinics provide free treatment, tests, and medicines. “If Arvind Kejriwal had not established Mohalla Clinics, people would have to spend at least ₹3,000 per visit to private hospitals. Today, women in Delhi travel for free on buses. Earlier, buses were free for women only on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, but Arvind Kejriwal ensured free travel for his sisters every single day of the year. This is his love and commitment to them.”
She further added, “In BJP-ruled states, an air-conditioned bus ride costs ₹100 for a round trip, meaning a person spends around ₹3,000 per month just on bus fares. If the BJP comes to power in Delhi, from next month onwards, a bus ticket will cost ₹50.”
Chief Minister Atishi stated that in the next five years, Arvind Kejriwal plans to introduce several new welfare schemes. “If AAP forms the government again, women in Delhi will receive ₹2,100 per month under the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana.’ The BJP will come and claim that Arvind Kejriwal is lying—just like they did when they said he would never provide free electricity or free bus travel. But Arvind Kejriwal proved them wrong.”
She further emphasized, “Arvind Kejriwal wants his sisters to be financially independent and not have to ask anyone for money. Until now, senior citizens have received free treatment in government hospitals. But under the Sanjivani Yojana, they will now get free treatment in both government and private hospitals.”
Chief Minister Atishi highlighted the numerous benefits that Arvind Kejriwal’s policies have brought to Delhi’s residents. “If one woman receives ₹2,100 under the Mahila Samman Yojana, then two women in a household will receive ₹4,200. The medical expenses for two elderly family members amount to around ₹3,000, but with free treatment under the Mohalla Clinic initiative, this cost is saved.”
She further highlighted, “Visiting a Mohalla Clinic twice a month saves another ₹3,000. Free bus travel for women results in savings of ₹3,000 per month. With two children studying in government schools, families save ₹4,000 on school fees. Free electricity saves ₹5,000, and free water saves ₹2,000. Altogether, Arvind Kejriwal’s schemes help a household save ₹24,200 every month.”
She warned, “If the Jhadu symbol loses, the loss isn’t Arvind Kejriwal’s—it’s the people’s. Living in Delhi will become difficult, and people may even be forced to leave the city.”
