I&PR Secretary Inaugurates Lianchhiari Rûn Mini Theatre
Aizawl : At 12:00 noon today, I&PR Secretary Ms. Betsy Zothanpari Sailo inaugurated the Lianchhiari Rûn Mini Theatre, located in the DIPR New Building, Treasury Square, Aizawl, in a grand ceremony.
Speaking at the inaugural event, Chief Guest Ms. Betsy Zothanpari Sailo expressed gratitude for the successful establishment of the Mini Theatre at Lianchhiari Rûn, acknowledging the dedication of those involved in its completion despite numerous challenges. She emphasized that the Mini Theatre is a significant step forward in the development of the visual arts sector and will serve as a valuable platform for artists. She also expressed happiness over Mizoram’s growing film industry and the people’s increasing interest in cinema. She commended the government’s initiatives, including the development of film-related applications and policy support for filmmakers.
Highlighting the importance of collaboration between the Nodal Department and film professionals, she encouraged discussions on advancing Mizoram’s creative industry.
The inaugural event was presided over by Mr. C. Lalnunkima, Director, Department of Information and Public Relations (I&PR). Mr. Pratap Chhetri, Deputy Director & Nodal Officer (Visual Art), presented a report on the Mini Theatre’s construction and its future plans. Filmmakers and industry stakeholders also shared their views during the event. A documentary on Lianchhiari Rûn was screened before the event concluded.
According to the report, the newly inaugurated Mini Theatre at Lianchhiari Rûn has a seating capacity of 100 and is equipped with a high-quality laser projector and modern audiovisual facilities. Starting today, filmmakers can submit their films to the I&PR Department for screening at the Mini Theatre for a nominal fee.
