Funds to Be Allocated for Beautification of Roads in Ganjgolai Area – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar

Latur : Ganjgolai is a historic landmark of Latur, and funds will be allocated for the beautification of roads leading to it and its surrounding areas. A detailed plan for this project should be submitted, as instructed by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance & Planning Minister Ajit Pawar. He made this announcement during the state-level meeting of the District Annual Plan for 2025-26. He also assured that efforts would be made to provide additional funds beyond the approved allocation for Latur district’s development.

The meeting, held via video conferencing, was attended by Guardian Minister Shivendra Singh Bhosale, Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil, Minister of State for Finance & Planning Ashish Jaiswal, MLA Sanjay Bansode, Guardian Secretary Manisha Mhaiskar, District Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council Anmol Sagar, Latur Municipal Commissioner Babasaheb Manohare, Additional CEO of the District Council Aslam Tadvi, District Planning Officer Somnath Reddy, Assistant Commissioner for Social Welfare Shivkant Chikurte, and other officials from the implementing agencies.

Deputy CM Pawar emphasized that the development plan should consider the historical significance of Ganjgolai. The proposed works should highlight its heritage, complement its architectural value, and maintain high quality standards. He also directed authorities to take immediate steps to ensure the cleanliness of Latur city and its surroundings, urging coordinated efforts to enhance sanitation and provide better civic amenities for residents.

During the meeting, Deputy CM Pawar also reviewed the ‘Balantvida’ initiative implemented by the Women & Child Development Department of the District Council, which supports pregnant women. He acknowledged the initiative’s importance and instructed officials to ensure that high-quality essential items reach eligible and needy women.

Guardian Minister Shivendra Singh Bhosale raised concerns over frequent transformer breakdowns in Latur due to increased electricity load. He stressed the need for additional funds to upgrade transformer capacity and also urged for funding to improve and beautify the roads in the historic Ganjgolai area. He further suggested that with increased funds, more essential items could be included in the ‘Balantvida’ kit.

Minister of State for Finance & Planning, Ashish Jaiswal, directed that the District Council and the Municipal Corporation should coordinate efforts to maintain cleanliness in the gram panchayat areas adjacent to the municipal limits.

The meeting also covered discussions on key areas such as health, infrastructure, sanitation, agricultural services, animal husbandry, school and Anganwadi buildings, and the provision of cremation grounds in villages.

Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil and MLA Sanjay Bansode also presented various district-level demands. District Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge provided an update on fund utilization for 2024-25 and outlined proposed projects for 2025-26.
