College Students Gain Experience in Ministerial Office; Initiative by Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha

Rajvardhan Karande Assumes Role of Skill Development Minister in a Simulated Exercise

Mumbai : The Skill Development Department is working towards equipping youth with industry-relevant skills to enhance employment opportunities. For the first time, students have been given a chance to work within the department, announced Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha.

In a simulated role-play, Rajvardhan Karande took on the responsibilities of the Skill Development Minister, expressing gratitude to Minister Lodha while learning about the department’s operations.

Hands-on Government Experience for Students

Minister Lodha had invited college students to visit his ministerial office, with the objective of familiarizing them with the workings of the government and providing firsthand exposure to administration. During this visit, students were symbolically assigned the minister’s responsibilities for an hour.

As part of the Young Inspirators Network initiative, student representatives are selected through elections and form a shadow cabinet. This initiative helps students understand government departments, their functions, and public welfare schemes. Minister Lodha ensured that students not only learn about governance in theory but also experience it practically within the ministry.

The event was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma, Commissioner Nitin Patil, and Madhavi Sardeshmukh (Director, Vocational Education and Training Department), along with members of the Young Inspirators Network Cabinet, including Samruddhi Tupe (Chief Minister), Riya Khanolkar (Home Minister), Parth Thorwat, Aryan Darade (Deputy Chief Ministers), and Parnavi Dhavare (Speaker).

Empowering Future Leaders

Speaking at the event, Minister Lodha emphasized, “Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. Providing them with insights into administrative functions is crucial. When they engage with governance in the future, this experience will be invaluable. Though this is a small step, it can inspire them to take on leadership roles. Such initiatives help students broaden their perspectives and articulate their ideas more effectively.”

Additionally, Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma provided a detailed overview of central government schemes, skill development initiatives, and various youth training programs implemented by the department.
