CM Stalin Inaugurates Projects Worth ₹1304 Cr, Lays Foundation for ₹309 Cr Initiatives

At a government function held in Tirunelveli, 23 completed projects worth Rs. 1304.66 crore were inaugurated, 20 new projects worth Rs. 309.05 crore had their foundation stones laid, and 75,151 beneficiaries received welfare assistance amounting to Rs. 167 crore, as announced by Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

As part of the Thirumelkeli Government Land Acquisition initiative (6.2.2025), a 4.3 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility by Dodo Solar, a subsidiary of the Dodo Group, was inaugurated at Mandya Chip Park, employing 4,000 people with an investment of Rs. 3,800 crore. Additionally, Vikram Solar has set up a 3 GW solar cell and 6 GW module manufacturing facility, employing 2,500 people with an investment of Rs. 2,574 crore.

In another significant development, Water Resources Minister, in the presence of other officials, inaugurated the rehabilitation of a 40-meter-long canal at a cost of Rs. 4 lakh and a 26-meter-long canal at a cost of Rs. 66 lakh in Nainarkulam and surrounding areas. Furthermore, under the Thirumelkeli Improvement Project, the Chief Minister inspected the ongoing work to strengthen the banks of the Thamirabarani River, undertaken at a cost of Rs. 11.57 lakh.

At a separate government function in Thirumelkeli (7.2.2025), the Chief Minister inaugurated 23 completed projects worth Rs. 1304.66 crore, laid foundation stones for 20 new projects valued at Rs. 309.05 crore, and distributed welfare assistance worth Rs. 167 crore to 75,151 people.

One of the key inaugurated projects is the diversion of surplus water from the Thamirabarani, Ramanadhi, and Nambiar rivers to the Thiruvananthapuram River, which aims to redirect 2,765 million cubic feet of water per day. The project, initially launched in 2009 at an estimated cost of Rs. 369 crore, covers 75.175 km, benefiting 50 villages and 5,220 acres across Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts.

The event also highlighted several rural development initiatives, including the construction of sanitation facilities, health centers, water supply projects, and industrial estates across Tamil Nadu. The government has allocated Rs. 77.02 crore for an agricultural park project, with contributions from various stakeholders, including Syed Agro Industries and Syed Home Industries.

In the education and infrastructure sectors, the government announced projects worth Rs. 7,970 crore for school expansions and Rs. 14,400 crore for an integrated district hospital. Other significant allocations include Rs. 52 lakh for new housing, Rs. 6 lakh for a book collection system, and Rs. 63 lakh for housing projects under the Sarathiyarthi scheme.

Welfare assistance worth Rs. 167 crore was distributed to 75,151 people across various social and economic categories. The event was attended by key government officials, including Legislative Assembly Speaker M. Appavu, Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan, Agriculture Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam, Fisheries Minister Anitha R. Radhakrishnan, and other dignitaries.
