Madhya Pradesh to emerge as a leading state in Green Hydrogen: Shri Manu Shrivastava
Under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, a target has been set to produce 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030. During a roundtable discussion with investors in the green hydrogen sector, Additional Chief Secretary of New and Renewable Energy, Shri Manu Shrivastava, highlighted that Madhya Pradesh is poised to become one of the leading states in green energy. He apprised investors about the various facilities provided by the state government, including land availability, an adequate power supply, and a favourable geographical structure. He emphasized that the state’s abundant renewable energy resources and supportive policy framework create an ideal environment for green hydrogen projects. The discussion also addressed and resolved queries raised by investors.
Among the alternative sources of energy, apart from green hydrogen, the Madhya Pradesh Government’s Renewable Energy Policy 2022 aims to position the state as a leading hub for renewable energy. The policy focuses on creating a favourable ecological zone for the manufacturing of renewable energy equipment and promoting the large-scale adoption of renewable energy. As an incentive, the government provides a 50 percent discount on land acquisition costs and 50 percent reimbursement of stamp duty on the purchase of private land designated for renewable energy projects.
Additional Chief Secretary Shri Shrivastava informed that the recommendations and suggestions received in the CEO round table conference will prove helpful in shaping the future energy policy and strategies of Madhya Pradesh. The cooperation of industrialists, officials, and financial stakeholders is essential in realizing the green hydrogen potential of the state and contributing to India’s sustainable energy goals.
Managing Director of Urja Vikas Nigam, Shri Amanvir Singh Bains, stated that Madhya Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a favorable destination for green energy investment. Over the past decade, the state’s renewable energy capacity has grown 11-fold, now accounting for 24 percent of its total installed power capacity.
