Special Event in 5 Central Jails, 20 District Jails, and 8 Sub-Jails: Inmates Given the Opportunity for Ganga Jal Bath for Spiritual and Mental Purification
Raipur : In a unique initiative by the Chhattisgarh government, inmates across various prisons in the state were given the opportunity to take a sacred Ganga Jal bath.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating that the blessings of Maa Ganga should reach everyone. He expressed hope that this effort would provide inmates with mental peace and self-reflection, guiding them toward positive transformation. The state government remains committed to prison reforms and the spiritual and moral upliftment of inmates, with similar initiatives planned for the future.
A Major Step Toward Spiritual Awareness and Social Inclusion
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating that values and culture are integral to every individual’s life, and prison inmates should not be deprived of them. The government organized this special event to ensure that no section of society misses the divine benefits of the Mahakumbh, being held after 144 years. This effort aims to instill self-purification, positive thinking, and moral awareness among inmates. He further stated that the Ganga Jal bath and collective prayers were organized in 5 central jails, 20 district jails, and 8 sub-jails, allowing inmates to experience spiritual and mental purification.
Inmates Participate Enthusiastically in Collective Prayers
During this special event, arrangements were made to supply Ganga Jal to prisons across the state, facilitating the sacred bath and collective prayers. Jail authorities reported that inmates participated enthusiastically and found the experience uplifting. Many inmates expressed that the event gave them a sense of self-purification and mental peace.
Government’s New Initiative for Prisoner Rehabilitation
CM Shri Vishnu Deo Sai reiterated the state government’s commitment to prisoner rehabilitation and reform. Calling this initiative a significant step in that direction, he emphasized that prisons should not just be places of punishment but also centers for rehabilitation and transformation.
