Expedite New Water Supply Scheme from Ghod Dam for Ranjangaon Gram Panchayat: Deputy CM Ajit Pawar
Meeting Held to Address Issues of Ranjangaon Ganpati Gram Panchayat
Mumbai : Considering the spiritual and pilgrimage significance of Ranjangaon Ganpati in Pune’s Shirur taluka and the presence of MIDC in the area, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has directed officials to immediately implement a new water supply scheme from Ghod Dam under the Jal Jeevan Mission to meet the needs of the rising migrant population.
Recognizing future requirements, Pawar also instructed officials to set up a large-capacity sewage treatment plant in the gram panchayat area. He assured that funding would be provided through the District Planning Committee and the Swachh Bharat Mission, along with CSR contributions from industries operating in the region.
High-Level Meeting to Address Development Issues
A meeting, chaired by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, was held at the Mantralaya to discuss various concerns of Ranjangaon Ganpati Gram Panchayat. Key attendees included:
- Industries Minister Uday Samant (via video conference)
- Water Supply & Sanitation Minister Gulabrao Patil
- Former Minister MLA Dilip Walse Patil (via video conference)
- Senior government officials from Finance, Planning, Rural Development, and Water Supply departments
- MIDC officials and Pune district administration representatives
Deputy CM’s Directives
Pawar emphasized that Ranjangaon Ganpati, one of the Ashtavinayak pilgrimage sites, has become a major religious and tourism destination. With rapid industrial growth due to MIDC, migratory population pressure is increasing on local infrastructure. Hence, he stressed the need for:
✅ Immediate execution of the new water supply scheme from Ghod Dam under Jal Jeevan Mission
✅ Setting up a high-capacity sewage treatment plant with funding from District Planning Committee, Swachh Bharat Mission, and CSR funds
✅ Execution of infrastructure projects proposed by Ranjangaon Ganpati, Karegaon, and Dhokasawangi Gram Panchayats through MIDC
Additionally, Pawar instructed officials to assess water availability under the Hivare Water Supply Scheme and submit proposals based on population growth and increased demand. He assured that the state government will provide the necessary funds to implement these initiatives.
