₹5,000 Cr Footwear Project to Create 50,000 Jobs in Tamil Nadu

With an investment of ₹5,000 crore and the creation of 50,000 employment opportunities, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin, for the establishment of non-leather footwear manufacturing projects by Evervan Kothari Footwear Limited in Karur and Perambalur districts.

Today (26.02.2025), at the Secretariat, during an event organized by the Department of Industries, Investment Promotion, and Commerce, the MoU was signed between the Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau—the investment promotion agency of the Government of Tamil Nadu—and Evervan Kothari Footwear Limited, a subsidiary of the Phoenix Kothari Group. This agreement facilitates the establishment of non-leather footwear manufacturing projects in Karur and Perambalur districts, with an investment of ₹5,000 crore, generating 50,000 employment opportunities.

The Department of Industries, Investment Promotion, and Commerce continues to actively implement various initiatives to attract large-scale investments, create job opportunities for Tamil Nadu’s youth, especially women, improve their quality of life, and foster economic development across the state.

As part of this effort, Evervan Kothari Footwear Limited, a subsidiary of the Phoenix Kothari Group, has committed to establishing non-leather footwear manufacturing facilities with an investment of ₹5,000 crore, generating 50,000 jobs. These industries, being set up in the industrially backward districts of Karur and Perambalur, will provide significant employment opportunities for the youth, particularly women, in these regions and surrounding areas. This initiative will not only enhance individual income levels but also contribute to the overall economic growth of the region.

The event was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion, and Commerce, Dr. T.R.B. Rajaa, Chief Secretary Thiru N. Muruganandam, IAS, Secretary of the Department of Industries, Investment Promotion, and Commerce, Thiru V. Arun Roy, IAS, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau, Dr. Tarez Ahmed, IAS, Chairman of Evervan Shoetown Group, Thiru Ran, Chairman and Managing Director of Kothari Industrial Corporation Limited, Thiru Rafiq Ahmed, Executive Vice Chairman Thiru P. Karthikeyan, along with other senior government officials.
