Complete Tender Processes for Proposed Projects Within a Month

Mumbai : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reviewed various infrastructure and other facility projects worth approximately ₹1.41 lakh crore currently underway, along with ₹25,000 crore in proposed projects under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). He also directed the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in drain-cleaning operations.

During the review meeting at Vidhan Bhavan, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, Additional Chief Secretary of Urban Development Department Aseem Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Department Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Forest Department Milind Mhaiskar, and BMC Additional Commissioner Abhijit Bangar were present.

BMC Commissioner Gagrani provided an update on the current status of various projects through a presentation.

BMC is implementing infrastructure, water supply, sewage treatment, and healthcare projects worth ₹1,41,356 crore. These include concreting of 700 km of roads, the Versova to Bhayandar Coastal Road, Goregaon-Mulund Link Road, and bridges such as Gokhale Bridge, Vikhroli Bridge, Carnac Bridge, Sion Bridge, and Madh-Versova Bridge. River rejuvenation projects for Dahisar, Poinsur, and Oshiwara rivers, as well as the Mithi River cleanup, are also part of the development plan.

Additionally, seven sewage treatment projects, including those at Versova, Malad, Bhandup, and Ghatkopar, along with the Versova Sewer Tunnel, Mithi River Package Sewer Tunnel, and Priority Sewer Tunnel, were reviewed. The meeting also covered hospital redevelopment projects at Sion KEM, Sion, and Nair hospitals, as well as new hospital constructions. The construction of parking and commercial centers at Dahisar Western Expressway Octroi Naka and Mankhurd was also discussed.

The review included projects worth ₹25,000 crore, such as the Desilting Project, Mithi River Package 5, Panjrapole Water Purification Project, Dahisar Garden Development, Mankhurd Transport Hub, Jijamata Udyan Expansion, Mulund Bird Sanctuary, Deonar Biomining, Deonar Slaughterhouse Modernization, Central Park Infrastructure, and Gargai Water Supply Project.

Construct a 2,000-Vehicle Capacity Parking Lot at Haji Ali – Chief Minister

With the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road nearing completion, Chief Minister Fadnavis directed the construction of a 2,000-vehicle capacity parking facility at Haji Ali. He instructed officials to expedite ongoing projects for timely completion and complete tender processes for proposed projects within a month.

The Gargai Water Supply Project is crucial for Mumbai’s future water needs, and he directed the immediate completion of rehabilitation and other related work to start the project.

Increase Roadwork Speed for a Pothole-Free Mumbai – Deputy CM Eknath Shinde

BMC is currently undertaking concreting of 700 km of roads. Once completed, 2,000 km of Mumbai’s roads will be concrete. Deputy CM Shinde urged faster completion of these projects and emphasized minimizing inconvenience to citizens during the monsoon. He also suggested considering the construction of a helipad along the coastal road.
