Submarine Cable to Boost AI and Tech Innovation – CM Devendra Fadnavis

Phase of Submarine Cable Activated at ‘NTT DATA – Gateway to the World’ Event

Mumbai : The undersea cable (submarine cable) connecting Myanmar, Malaysia, India, and Singapore (MIST) is being activated in phases, significantly enhancing India’s data transmission capacity. This development will accelerate progress in artificial intelligence (AI) and technological innovation, propelling India to new heights of growth, stated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Speaking at the ‘NTT DATA – Gateway to the World’ event at Hotel Taj Mahal, CM Fadnavis officially launched the submarine cable system between Myanmar, Malaysia, India, and Singapore (MIST) by pressing a computer key.

The event was attended by Ankur Dasgupta, Head of Marketing, NTT Data India; Yagi Koji, Consul General of Japan; Akira Shimada, President & CEO of NTT; Abhijit Dubey, President & CEO of NTT Data; Ronnie Lim, CEO of Venn Capital; Ohimichi Hideki, Executive VP & Director of JICT (Japan ICT Fund); Shuichi Sasakura, CEO of NTT Data’s Data Centers & Connectivity Division; and Yoshio Sato, VP & CEO of NTT Data’s Submarine Cable Division, among other dignitaries.

CM Fadnavis emphasized that the submarine cable system would be operational in phases.

He highlighted that NTT Corporation and NTT Data have achieved a major milestone. “Today, we are discussing progress in IT, AI, submarine cable implementation, sustainability, and the future of green energy. I believe this event will inspire us to advance digital transformation and accelerate industrial growth,” he added.

During the event, NTT Data President & CEO Abhijit Dubey had an informal discussion with CM Fadnavis.
