New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon Praises Indian Cinema

Mumbai : New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon visited the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and the National Museum of Indian Cinema to explore the rich history of Indian cinema. The museum houses a century-long cinematic legacy, which Luxon described as “truly remarkable.” He praised Indian cinema’s global reach, stating that it has become an integral part of popular culture worldwide.

During his visit, Luxon was welcomed with a bouquet by NFDC’s General Manager, D. Ramakrishnan. The event was attended by museum officials, including Jayita Ghosh, actor Anant Vijay Joshi, and museum staff.

Prime Minister Luxon highlighted the evolution of Indian cinema from silent films to talkies and now to cutting-edge modern filmmaking. He expressed admiration for the industry’s progress and emphasized that those working in cinema should take pride in their contribution to India’s global recognition. He also noted that New Zealand has a thriving film industry and serves as a popular filming location for Indian movies. Luxon expressed hope for continued collaborations in the future.

Commending the museum’s efforts in preserving cinematic history, he lauded the digitization of films to safeguard this cultural heritage. In a lighthearted moment, Luxon joined actor Anant Vijay Joshi in grooving to a famous Hindi song, adding a memorable touch to the visit.
