Bastar’s Soul Lies in Its Culture; Panchayats Freed from Terror to Receive ₹1 Crore Development Package – Deputy CM Vijay Sharma

Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Shri Vijay Sharma, attended the district-level “Bastar Pandum” festival in Bijapur as the chief guest. Praising Bastar’s rich cultural heritage, he stated that its traditions are not only unique to Chhattisgarh but also hold a special place on the global stage. He emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, efforts have begun to give Bastar’s culture international recognition.
He further announced that from April 1 to April 3, Dantewada will host the Bastar Pandum Division-Level Competition, which will witness the participation of the Chief Minister, Union Ministers, and distinguished guests from across the country and abroad. This event will showcase Bastar’s traditional arts, folk performances, and cultural grandeur.
Addressing the ongoing battle against Maoism, Deputy CM Sharma declared that any panchayat that declares itself free from Maoist influence will immediately receive approval for development projects worth up to ₹1 crore. Additionally, such areas will be prioritized for basic infrastructure, including electricity, mobile networks, and other essential facilities.
Sharma urged the people of Bijapur to actively participate in the Bastar Pandum festival from April 1 to 3 with great enthusiasm and pride, ensuring that the world witnesses the beauty of Bastar’s culture. He asserted that it is now time to free districts like Bijapur from the grip of Left-wing extremism and steer them toward progress. The government has resolved to eradicate Naxalism from the entire country by March 2026.
He made it clear that the government does not wish to resort to violence but extended an open invitation to those willing to abandon the path of terrorism and join the mainstream. However, he warned that strictest action will be taken against those who continue to engage in anti-national activities, as treason will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
