DISCOMs Review Meeting: CM Bhajanlal Sharma Emphasizes Uninterrupted Power Supply During Summer
DISCOMs to Take Effective Measures for Strengthening the Power System – CM Bhajanlal Sharma
Jaipur – Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has directed authorities to ensure uninterrupted power supply for the public during the summer season. He emphasized that DISCOM officials must continuously monitor electricity supply and complete upgradation work, including line improvements, transformer installations, and GSS (Grid Substations) setups, in a timely manner. Additionally, he urged DISCOMs to prioritize reducing power losses and achieve minimum transmission losses.
Addressing a review meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence, which included officials from Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Ajmer electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs), Sharma instructed that electricity infrastructure in rural areas where supply was disrupted last year be strengthened. He also stressed the need for feeder-level monitoring to minimize T&D (Transmission & Distribution) and AT&C (Aggregate Technical & Commercial) losses. Further, he directed authorities to repair and replace faulty meters and instructed the Energy Production Corporation to complete all maintenance work before peak demand periods.
Acceleration of PM-KUSUM Scheme
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) Scheme’s Component A and C will play a crucial role in making Rajasthan self-sufficient in the energy sector. He called for expediting the implementation of these components. He also underscored the importance of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in strengthening the power system, ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to domestic and non-domestic consumers, and reducing power tripping issues. He directed DISCOMs in Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Ajmer to effectively implement RDSS, warning that strict action will be taken against contractors causing unnecessary delays in its execution.
Swift Implementation of Free Electricity Scheme
CM Sharma emphasized the quick implementation of the “Mukhyamantri Free Electricity Scheme” under the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which provides 150 free electricity units per month to eligible families through solar power installations. He stated that community solar plants would be set up for low-income households lacking space for individual solar panels and directed officials to ensure the swift execution of this initiative.
Priority Issuance of Pending Agricultural Connections
The Chief Minister instructed DISCOMs to expedite pending domestic and non-domestic electricity connections and give top priority to resolving agricultural connection applications. He mandated that DISCOM officials submit daily reports to the CM’s office regarding the issuance of agricultural connections. Additionally, he conducted a detailed review of PHED (Public Health Engineering Department) connections, the construction of 33 kV and 11 kV substations, and the replacement of faulty transformers, providing necessary directives for their timely completion.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Energy (Independent Charge) Hiralal Nagar, Additional Chief Secretary (CMO) Shikhar Agarwal, Principal Secretary (CMO) Alok Gupta, DISCOMs Chairperson Arti Dogra, Rajasthan Energy Development Corporation MD Om Kasera, Rajasthan Power Transmission Corporation MD Nathamall Diddel, Jodhpur DISCOM MD Dr. Bhanwarlal, and Ajmer DISCOM MD KP Verma.
