National Share in Mineral Resources
Chhattisgarh holds a prominent position in India’s mineral landscape. Despite having just 4% of the country’s total geographical area, the state contributes over 16% to the national mineral production value. The state is rich in iron ore, coal, limestone, and bauxite—key contributors to its mineral revenue. Additionally, 28 types of mineral reserves, including strategically important minerals, have been confirmed in the state.
Additional Revenue through E-Auctioning
Since 2015, the Mineral Department has been allocating mineral blocks through e-auction, which generates additional revenue beyond royalties in the form of premiums. The approved mines under this system are now clearly contributing to the increase in mineral revenues.
Infrastructure Boost through Mineral Development Fund
The state government allocates 5% of total mineral revenue to the Mineral Development Fund, which is used to develop infrastructure and support mineral development in remote areas of the state. For the upcoming financial year 2025–26, around ₹200 crore has been earmarked specifically for rail corridor construction in these regions.
Driving Socio-Economic Development
Mining operations in Chhattisgarh are no longer limited to supplying raw materials to industries—they have become a key pillar of the state’s social and economic development.
“Chhattisgarh’s land is not just rich in mineral wealth but also in boundless potential for development and a deep commitment to public welfare. By achieving a record ₹14,195 crore in mineral revenue in FY 2024–25, the state has reached a new milestone.
This achievement reflects our visionary policies, transparent governance, and an honest work culture.
Through e-auctioning, technological innovation, and good governance, we are transforming the mineral sector not just into a source of revenue, but into a powerful engine of development for our remote regions.”
