CM Yogi orders prompt crop damage assessment and compensation within 24 hours

Lucknow : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to promptly conduct a survey starting late Wednesday night to assess the damage caused to farmers’ crops due to adverse weather conditions, including strong winds and hailstorms in the state.

He directed all District Magistrates, SDMs, and Tehsildars to visit the affected areas immediately and carry out a detailed survey. The results of this survey should be submitted to the relevant department so that compensation can be disbursed directly to the farmers’ accounts within 24 hours.

CM Yogi also emphasized that there should be no negligence in the compensation process. He warned that strict action will be taken against any officer found neglecting their duties.

The weather conditions deteriorated suddenly on the night of April 9, leading to strong storms, hailstorms, and lightning strikes in various areas. In response, CM Yogi instructed officials to expedite relief efforts.

Following the survey, compensation for crop losses will be provided by the Revenue Department in collaboration with insurance companies. Additionally, the Relief Department has issued an alert due to the ongoing bad weather and urged people to step out of their homes only when absolutely necessary.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami has directed all District Magistrates, SDMs, and Tehsildars across the state to immediately conduct a field survey to assess the damage caused to crops by hailstorms. The survey reports must be uploaded on the department’s portal as soon as possible.

It is important to note that compensation will only be provided to farmers whose crops have suffered more than 33 percent damage due to floods, hailstorms, and unseasonal rains. In addition, the Relief Department has issued an alert due to the ongoing bad weather. The department has urged the public to stay indoors and only step out when absolutely necessary, in order to prevent any potential loss of life.

Compensation provided within hours for wheat crops destroyed in massive fire in Lakhimpur Kheri

On Wednesday evening, a massive fire broke out in village Khajuha, Pargana Kukra, Tehsil Gola, Lakhimpur Kheri, destroying several bighas of wheat crops. Upon receiving the news, District Magistrate Durga Shakti Nagpal promptly reached the affected area to assess the damage. She spoke with the farmers and assured them that compensation would be provided as quickly as possible.

District Magistrate Nagpal directed officials to conduct an immediate survey and submit the report to the DM office without delay. Within hours, the District Magistrate took swift action, offering much-needed relief to the farmers affected by the fire. On Thursday, she distributed cheques to the farmers of Lakhimpur Sadar, Mitauli, and Gola tehsil, compensating them for their crop losses as per government guidelines. The swift response brought smiles to the farmers’ faces, easing their distress.

Compensation provided to affected farmers

Following the massive fire in village Khajuha, Gola Tehsil, Lakhimpur Kheri, farmers whose crops were severely damaged were promptly compensated. Affected farmers Kulveer Kaur, Upendra Singh, and Jashmel Singh were each provided Rs 50,000. Satwant Singh, Sandeep Singh, and Jasbir Kaur received Rs 40,000 each, while Baljeet Kaur and Harjeet Singh were compensated with Rs 12,150 and Rs 14,550 respectively.

Similarly, crops in village Aliapur and Mahuadhab, Mitauli Tehsil, were damaged due to the storm that occurred on Wednesday night. In response, Deputy District Magistrate Renu Mishra and Tehsildar Bhimsen immediately processed the compensation under the “Mukhyamantri Khet Khaliyan Agnikand Durghatna Sahayata Yojana.” Farmer Sudha Devi, who suffered a crop loss of 0.390 hectares, was provided a cheque of Rs 11,700, while Brajraj Singh, who faced a loss of 0.150 hectares, received Rs 4,500.

In a separate incident, a fire broke out on Wednesday night around 9:50 pm in village Khajuha, Pargana Paila, Tehsil Sadar, damaging sugarcane crops. Based on the evaluation report, SDM Ashwini Kumar Singh, Deputy Collector Amita Yadav, and Tehsildar Sushil Pratap Singh provided financial assistance of Rs 3,220 to Sushil Kumar and Rs 6,119 to Baburam to help them recover from their losses.
