Yogi govt to construct over 100 roads in Lucknow and Varanasi

Lucknow : In a significant push to strengthen urban infrastructure, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has launched an ambitious initiative to enhance the road network in the state capital, Lucknow and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency, Varanasi.

Under the Quick Economic Development Scheme, a comprehensive plan has been formulated to construct over 100 roads across both cities in 2025–26.

The project includes the large-scale construction of CC roads, interlocking tiles, and modern drainage systems. The Rural Engineering Department has been designated as the nodal agency for the implementation of the project.

All construction activities will commence only after securing environmental clearance and other statutory approvals. The state government has already instructed the District Magistrates of Lucknow and Varanasi to ensure the plan’s timely and effective execution.

102 roads are set to be constructed—25 in Lucknow and 77 in Varanasi. Strict adherence to procedural approvals and regulatory compliance will be maintained throughout the process. Special emphasis will be placed on modern construction technologies to ensure durability and quality.

Funding for the project is being mobilized under the Quick Economic Development Scheme, with all construction works scheduled to be completed within a stipulated timeframe.

Several key localities stand to benefit from the initiative, including Bakshi Ka Talab, Malihabad, and Sarojini Nagar in Lucknow and Pindra, Narayanpur, and Sarnath in Varanasi. Additional areas, such as Sarasoli Ward and other blocks in Varanasi, will also see infrastructure improvements, significantly enhancing public convenience and reducing urban traffic woes.
