Review Meeting of the Water Resources Department – Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal
Jaipur . Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma said that the revised PKC-ERCP (Ramjal Setu Link) project is a prestigious project of the state. Through this, drinking water and irrigation will be provided to 17 districts of the state, and industries to be established in these districts will also receive water as required. He said the project should be implemented in mission mode with the goal of completion within the next two years. The state government will provide all necessary support to the concerned department, including human resources and simplification of rules.
Shri Sharma was chairing the review meeting of the Water Resources Department, Indira Gandhi Canal Department, and Irrigated Area Development & Water Utilization Department at the Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday. He directed that regular monitoring of this project should be ensured and a report should be submitted to the Chief Minister’s Office every 15 days. Special officers should be appointed specifically to coordinate the land acquisition processes.
Meeting to Be Held on April 20 —
The Chief Minister said that in the first phase of the Yamuna Water Agreement, there is consensus on preparing a joint DPR (Detailed Project Report) for a flow system to bring water from the Tajewala Head into the state. In this context, the first meeting of the joint task force formed for the DPR was held on April 7 in Yamunanagar. He said that the second meeting of the joint task force regarding the Yamuna Water Agreement DPR will be held on April 20 in Pilani. He instructed officials to complete preparations related to mapping and alignment design.
While reviewing the details and progress under Packages 1, 2, and 3 of the revised PKC-ERCP project, the Chief Minister said that work orders worth ₹9,600 crore have already been issued in the first phase to accelerate the project. He instructed that the pace of work in land acquisition awards, forest clearances, and other clearances under these packages should be expedited. He suggested commencing work on land that has already been acquired and directed proper arrangements for the rehabilitation of people affected by the land acquisition.
Convert Natural Depressions into Reservoirs at the Earliest —
Shri Sharma, while reviewing the Indira Gandhi Canal Department, said that work to convert four natural depressions situated along the Indira Gandhi Main Canal’s Burji into reservoirs should be completed at the earliest. This will help improve the availability of drinking water in Churu, Jaisalmer, and Bikaner districts. The Chief Minister emphasized developing sprinkler irrigation systems especially while reviewing the lift canals of the Indira Gandhi Canal Project.
It is noteworthy that Maharaja Ganga Singh started the Ganganahar (Gang Canal) in the year 1927. Recently, during the Chief Minister’s inspection of the Shivpur Head, it was decided to celebrate the year 2027 as the centenary year.
Isarda Drinking Water Project to Be Completed by June —
Shri Sharma, while reviewing the physical and financial progress of the Parvan Major Multi-Purpose Irrigation Project, directed that the dam construction, pipeline distribution system, tank and pump house works should be expedited. He also instructed that the Dholpur Lift Irrigation Project and Isarda Drinking Water Project should be completed by June. The tank construction works of the Kaliteer Lift Project should be regularly monitored and initiated soon. He gave directions to sympathetically rehabilitate and provide appropriate compensation to people affected by land acquisition. He also reviewed the Upper High-Level Canal Project, Piplakhoot High-Level Canal Project, diversion water of the Sabarmati Basin, and the Dewas III and IV Projects.
In the meeting, it was informed that expected progress is being made in land acquisition cases, and pending cases are being resolved. So far, the acquisition process has been completed in 10 cases, and the remaining ones will also be completed soon.
On this occasion, Water Resources Minister Shri Suresh Singh Rawat and senior officials of concerned departments were present.
