Revised Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project: 2.3 Km Aqueduct to be Built Over Chambal River
Approval Received from National Wildlife Board—Feeder Construction from Navnera Barrage to Mej Anicut to Begin Soon
Jaipur : Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, ambitious efforts are underway to complete the revised Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project in a time-bound manner, with work progressing on a mission mode. In the first phase of the project, a work order worth ₹9,400 crore has been issued, and the implementation of the scheme has commenced.
In the second package of the first phase, a 2.3 km-long aqueduct will be built at a cost of ₹2,330 crore to cross the Chambal River. This aqueduct will connect Peepalda Samel village on one end and Gohata village on the other. Through the aqueduct, water will be lifted from Kalisindh and discharged into the Mej river. Additionally, the construction of a feeder from Navnera Barrage to Mej Anicut will also begin soon. The necessary land acquisition for 328 hectares will be completed promptly, and the affected individuals will be provided compensation as per regulations.
Approval from Wildlife Board
For the construction of the aqueduct, approval from the National Wildlife Board has been received from a wildlife protection perspective. The process of returning 24.05 hectares of forest land is in its final stage. The concerned agency has set up a camp at the worksite. Construction of casting yards, batching plants, etc., for the Chambal aqueduct has already begun. Survey and research work has been completed, and designs and drawings have been finalized to strengthen the project.
Life-Giving Project to Provide Water to 17 Districts
Under the guidance of the Chief Minister, the revised PKC-ERCP integrated plan worth approximately ₹90,000 crore has been developed. In the first phase of the project, 17 districts in the state will receive potable water, along with water for industrial purposes.
It is noteworthy that for this vast project, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, the government initiated discussions with the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh soon after taking office and, after mutual agreement, signed an MoU in January 2024 for the revised PKC scheme. Subsequently, on December 17, 2024, in the presence of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and the Government of India, which is publicly available.
Water Resources Minister Shri Suresh Singh Rawat stated that, as per the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, work on the revised PKC is progressing. The construction of the aqueduct will be completed within the stipulated time frame and with utmost strength. Our goal is to ensure that water reaches Eastern Rajasthan at the earliest through this project.
