Public Participation Drives Water Awareness and Cleanliness of Water Structures Across Madhya Pradesh

The Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan is being actively implemented across Madhya Pradesh with strong community participation. The campaign is raising awareness among citizens about the importance of water conservation, while also encouraging public involvement in cleaning water structures.

Desilting of Kund at Nanheswar Dham, Khargone

In Khargone district, a desilting and cleanliness drive was organized at the kund (pond) in Nanheswar Dham village by the Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad. District Coordinator Shri Vijay Sharma informed that under the campaign running until June 30, the pond is being cleaned, and villagers are being administered pledges to conserve water. A message encouraging the flow of pure water from the source (Gomukh) was also conveyed. Soft pits are being constructed near handpumps to aid water conservation.

Water Awareness Seminar in Sheopur

Under the guidance of Collector Shri Arpit Verma, various activities were conducted in the Sheopur district. A seminar on water conservation was organised at the Gram Panchayat Agra, focusing on the cleaning and deepening of water bodies. Participants took a pledge to conserve water. Special emphasis is being given to the cleaning of ponds, stepwells, and canals, with active participation of women.

Water Source Protection in Raisen

In the Raisen district, the campaign focuses on the preservation and rejuvenation of water sources. Awareness programs and cleanliness drives are being led by Self-Help Group members, especially in Badi Janpad. In schools, teachers administered water conservation oaths to students, and students created art to spread messages like “Water is Life” and the importance of water conservation.

Pond Cleanliness Drive in Morena

In the Morena district, the campaign prioritises the cleaning of rivers and drains. In Gram Panchayat Rithora, the Baba Wala pond was cleaned with community participation, facilitated by the Water Resources Department.

Water Conservation on Earth Day in Ratlam

On the occasion of World Earth Day, Smt. Saroj Welfare Society in Jaora, Ratlam district, organised a pond deepening activity. Sarpanch Smt. Tejubai Patel highlighted that “Water is Life” and emphasised collective efforts to conserve it. The villagers contributed through voluntary labour to deepen the pond. “Water Chaupals” are being organised to raise awareness about water.

Various Activities in Ujjain District

In Ujjain, several activities are being undertaken, including the Construction of soak pits near handpumps and wells in Mangrola Panchayat, the Installation of a roof water harvesting system at an anganwadi in Sarvankheda village, Mahidpur, and soak pits near handpumps in Barukhedi Panchayat.

Farm Ponds as a Source of Income in Narsinghpur

In Narsinghpur district, several farmers have benefited from the state’s Farm Pond Scheme, creating ponds in their fields and increasing their income. Under MNREGA, rural employment opportunities are being generated, providing both livelihood and support for water conservation. Farmers are being educated on the importance of ponds, and villagers are taking water conservation pledges as part of the campaign.
