“Bringing Every Citizen Home Safely is Our Top Priority” – Deputy CM Ajit Pawar

Deputy CM Takes Initiative to Ensure Safety of Maharashtra Tourists Stranded in Jammu & Kashmir

Additional Flights Arranged to Bring Back Tourists

Mumbai : Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam (Jammu & Kashmir), the Maharashtra government has gone into action mode to ensure the safety of its tourists stranded in the region and to bring them back home safely. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar personally contacted Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over the phone, requesting immediate support and assistance for the stranded tourists from Maharashtra.

Stating that the top priority is to bring back every tourist safely and provide reassurance to their families, Deputy CM Pawar has instructed the appointment of special officers in the Disaster Management Cell at Mantralaya to coordinate with the stranded tourists and provide them with all necessary support. He urged the families of those stuck in Kashmir to remain calm and not panic.

Deputy CM Pawar has also directed officials to coordinate with central government agencies and the Jammu & Kashmir administration to ensure every possible help is extended to the tourists. He has reached out to Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, to arrange for special flights. Plans are underway to deploy additional aircraft to expedite and safely carry out the return of tourists.

Deputy CM Pawar is personally overseeing the entire operation and remains in constant contact with both state and central authorities. The state government has alerted the district administration, tourism department, and emergency services to stay vigilant and closely monitor the situation.

Ajit Pawar has also spoken directly with some of the stranded tourists in Kashmir, offering reassurance and promising all necessary assistance. He has issued instructions to promptly bring back the bodies of deceased Maharashtra citizens who were killed in the attack and to ensure medical treatment for the injured. Orders have also been given to arrange for the safe return of other tourists who are stranded in hotels at various tourist spots.

The state government has appealed to citizens to remain calm and composed. Regular communication is being maintained with the families of the tourists, providing them with factual and timely updates. Information is being compiled regarding the tourists’ names, their current locations, and possible return schedules. Deputy CM Pawar has directed that all these operations be carried out with utmost coordination and urgency.
