Tamil Nadu Government Ensures Support for Tourists Affected by Terror Attack in Jammu & Kashmir

Under the chairmanship of Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin, a series of supportive actions have been initiated in response to the terrorist attack on Tamil Nadu tourists in Jammu & Kashmir. The attack, which took place on April 22, 2025, in the Sehalkam area, targeted tourists, some of whom were from Tamil Nadu.

In response to this tragic incident, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin immediately directed the establishment of a special assistance center at Tamil Nadu House in Delhi, available 24 hours a day, to provide necessary help to those affected. The Tamil Nadu government has also coordinated with the Jammu & Kashmir government to ensure that the affected families receive the appropriate assistance.

In the aftermath of the attack, the Tamil Nadu government has ensured that the tourists who were harmed have been provided with medical care. Dr. Jeremessen, one of the injured tourists, was transferred to Delhi via air ambulance for further treatment.

The Tamil Nadu government’s Special Representative in Delhi, Mr. A.M.K.S. Vijay, and Tamil Nadu House staff facilitated the airlifting of the injured tourist to the AIIMS hospital in Delhi for proper medical care.

Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin personally extended his condolences to Dr. Nayanthara, the wife of Dr. Jeremessen, expressing solidarity and assured her that all possible assistance would be provided by the Tamil Nadu government.

Furthermore, around 40 Tamil Nadu tourists, who were in Jammu & Kashmir at the time of the attack, have been safely sent to Chennai by train, and others will be assisted in returning home as per the instructions of the Chief Minister.

The Tamil Nadu government is committed to providing all necessary help and support to the affected families, ensuring their safety and well-being.
