Will Pursue Pending Central Government Funds, Says Dadaji Bhuse.
Mumbai: Minister of Employment Guarantee Scheme Dadaji Bhuse stated that efforts will be made to secure pending funds from the Central Government for works under the Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) and Horticulture.
A review meeting of the Employment Guarantee Scheme Department and Horticulture Department was held in the ministry hall. Present at the meeting were Dinesh Waghmare, Principal Secretary of Employment Guarantee Scheme, V Radha, Principal Secretary of Horticulture Department, Nand Kumar, Director of Employment Guarantee Scheme, and Dr. Kailas Mote, Director of Horticulture Department, along with senior officials from both departments.
Minister Bhuse emphasized the need to benchmark the successful works done in other states under the Employment Guarantee Scheme and replicate similar activities in Maharashtra. He stressed on planning maximum activities under the scheme, promoting awareness about it, and giving it priority.
In order to prevent farmer suicides, he suggested identifying works that could be undertaken under the Employment Guarantee Scheme and proposing these initiatives. He urged for coordination among various departments to maximize the benefits of the schemes offered under MGNREGA.
The Central Government has decided to integrate schemes from various departments with MGNREGA under its convergence policy. Minister Bhuse highlighted that this convergence would enhance the quality and productivity of projects generated through the integration of other department schemes with MGNREGA.
Integrated Horticulture Development Mission
Minister Bhuse also conducted a detailed review of the Integrated Horticulture Development Campaign. He recommended organizing workshops to provide various types of training to orchard farmers through the department and addressing challenges in scheme implementation.
He emphasized that dedicated efforts towards farmers could reduce suicide rates and called for funds to be allocated through various schemes to support farmers effectively. He stressed on the need for efficient scheme implementation to benefit the maximum number of farmers.
