Major Decision in Chhattisgarh on Lift and Escalator Safety

Raipur : In a significant move aimed at ensuring public safety, the Chhattisgarh government has made the registration, renewal, and inspection of all lifts and escalators mandatory across the state. This decision, taken to enhance the safety of life and property, mandates that all such systems operate under strict safety standards. The move is expected to reduce the risk of accidents and relieve businesses from potential legal complications.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, all services related to lifts and escalators have now been brought under the ambit of the Public Service Guarantee Act. As per the new provision, all related services must be completed within 30 days. If the service is not provided within the stipulated time, the concerned officials will be held accountable. This step is expected to benefit industries and commercial establishments by ensuring timely service delivery.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that the safety and convenience of the public are top priorities for his government. He said that ensuring the secure operation of lifts and escalators is essential, which is why these services have been brought under the Public Service Guarantee Act—to build trust and provide timely assistance to the people.

The Chief Electrical Inspectorate has also appealed to all builders, commercial establishments, and lift operators to strictly comply with the new regulations and provide safe lift and escalator services. The enforcement of these rules is also expected to reduce insurance costs and minimize business risks.
