Pathways Open, Smiles Widen – ‘Rasta Kholo Abhiyan’ Becomes a Boon for Rural Communities
Over 1,000 Roads Opened in Just Five and a Half Months—Three New Paths Every Week in Every Tehsil, Easing Travel for Lakhs of Villagers
Jaipur : Under the directive of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, the ‘Rasta Kholo Abhiyan’ (Open the Roads Campaign) is being effectively implemented across Jaipur district. In just five and a half months, the campaign has opened over 1,000 blocked roads, providing immense relief and convenience to lakhs of rural residents.
Additional District Collector and campaign nodal officer, Shri Devendra Kumar Jain, informed that under the guidance of District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, three roads are being opened every week in each tehsil. Dr. Soni is personally monitoring the campaign to ensure its successful execution and to maximize its benefits for the public.
In the past week alone, 41 long-closed roads were reopened across all tehsils of Jaipur district. Since the campaign’s launch, the administration has managed to reopen 1,018 rural, agricultural, and hamlet roads—many of which had been blocked for years—through mutual understanding and cooperation with local communities.
Shri Jain noted that from November 15, 2024, to April 27, 2025, the most progress was made in Fagi tehsil, where 84 roads were reopened. Of these, construction of gravel roads is underway on 44, and two are being upgraded to block roads.
In other tehsils, progress is as follows: 4 roads in Jaipur tehsil, 8 in Kalwar, 59 in Amer, 47 in Jamwaramgarh, 49 in Aandhi, 51 in Bassi, and 42 in Tunga. Shahpura reopened 64 roads, Jobner 62, Kishangarh-Renwal 51, Phulera 56, Rampura-Dabri 42, Jalsu 33, Chomu 68, and Sanganer 21.
Additionally, 61 roads were reopened in Chaksu, 41 in Kotkhawda, 57 in Madhorajpura, 55 in Dudu, and 63 in Mozamabad tehsil.
Dr. Soni has also instructed officials to immediately begin development work such as laying gravel or constructing concrete (CC) roads on newly reopened paths. Work has already begun at several locations. For disputed roads under judicial consideration, any resolution will be determined by the court.
Grievances related to road encroachments are frequently received during public hearings in rural areas. Court cases over blocked roads have been steadily rising, burdening citizens with legal expenses and disrupting public order. In response, the administration launched the ‘Rasta Kholo Abhiyan’ to proactively resolve these issues and restore long-lost connectivity.
