Children aged 3 to 6 years will be given nutritious snacks containing 400 calories every day
Lucknow : Following the impactful success of the Sambhav Abhiyan in tackling child malnutrition, the Yogi Adityanath-led government has now launched the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan across all eight aspirational districts of Uttar Pradesh. With a clear objective to eradicate malnutrition and ensure nutritional security for children, this ambitious initiative reinforces the state government’s commitment to the health and well-being of its youngest citizens.
A comprehensive action plan for the pilot phase has already been prepared. The campaign targets children between the ages of 3 and 6, aiming to provide them with daily nutritious snacks delivering 400 calories and 15–20 grams of protein. These meals will be provided under the Take-Home Ration model, ensuring both consistency and accessibility.
As part of the nutrition package, children will receive flavored milk, bananas and other seasonal fruits, and a specially designed Millet Chikki Nutribar. This nutribar, piloted successfully in Varanasi, has demonstrated a measurable positive impact—helping to reduce anemia, stunting, and underweight cases among Anganwadi beneficiaries. It has also been credited with boosting both attendance and engagement at Anganwadi centers, thanks to its nutritional value and child-friendly taste.
The Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan is expected to benefit a total of 11,13,783 children, with a proposed budget of ₹254.83 crore—amounting to ₹44 per child per day. The Yogi government has underlined the importance of swift implementation and close monitoring of the campaign to ensure maximum impact. Regular assessments by health experts will be carried out to measure outcomes and make necessary adjustments in real time.
With this initiative, the state is taking a decisive step towards creating a healthier, stronger, and more resilient generation. CM Yogi Adityanath has reiterated that child nutrition is not just a welfare measure, but a foundational investment in Uttar Pradesh’s future.
