Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Chairs High-Level Meeting on Emergency Medical Preparedness

Jaipur : In view of the current national security situation, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, chaired a high-level meeting on emergency medical services on Sunday at the Atal Seva Kendra in the Jodhpur District Collectorate premises. Senior officials from leading medical institutions such as the Military Hospital, Dr. S.N. Medical College, AIIMS, and the Railway Hospital participated in the meeting. The primary objective was to ensure a synchronized response and the prompt availability of advanced medical resources during emergencies.

“Review of Medical Arrangements, Nodal Officers to be Appointed in All Major Hospitals”

The Union Minister directed that each major hospital in the district appoint a nodal officer to coordinate efforts during crises. Similarly, he instructed the district administration to assign one senior officer to each hospital to ensure seamless coordination between medical and administrative teams.

During the meeting, he conducted a comprehensive review of medical equipment, available blood units, hospital beds, ICU facilities, and ambulance services. He emphasized that all institutions should operate in full alert mode at all times. “We must ensure a balanced and efficient use of our available resources. Our unity and coordination during times of crisis are our greatest strengths,” Mr. Shekhawat said.

“District Collector Provides Detailed Briefing on Preparedness”

District Collector Shri Gaurav Agrawal informed the Union Minister that sufficient stock and emergency provisions have been ensured in the district to tackle natural disasters or potential attacks. Regular mock drills and the activation of quick response teams are being conducted in coordination with all hospitals.

Present at the meeting were Dr. B.S. Jodha, Principal and Controller of Dr. S.N. Medical College; Dr. G.D. Puri, Director of AIIMS Jodhpur; Colonel Abir Gogoi and Lieutenant Colonel Deshmukh from the Military Hospital; Dr. S.R. Bunker from the Railway Hospital; Additional District Collector (First) Shri Jawahar Chaudhary; Additional District Collector (Second) Shri Surendra Rajpurohit; along with several other officials.

“Strong Message Delivered During Media Interaction”

While addressing the media, the Union Minister stated that ceasefire violations continue despite existing agreements, and thus heightened vigilance is essential. He clearly emphasized that if tensions escalate despite efforts for peace, both military and civilian preparedness must match the level required in wartime situations. Mr. Shekhawat added that he has conducted review meetings with administrative officials in border districts such as Jodhpur, Phalodi, Jaisalmer, and Barmer to formulate a unified strategy.
