Villagers in North 24 Paragana strives to counterfeit acute blood shortage.

As the heat wave continues to dominate the entire North 24 Paraganas district of West Bengal, the ‘educated members’ of Swami Vivekananda Smriti Sangha (SVSS) – an emancipated socio-cultural organisation of the Kankrasuti Village in Baduria have emerged to act as the saviour of the locality from a possible “Blood Desert”.

On 11th. May, 2025 the organisation had organised a ‘Voluntary Blood Donation Camp’ at South Kankrasuti Free Primary School, under the aegis of R. G. Kar Medical College & Hospital Blood Bank.

The coveted occasion marked its beginning with the hoisting of the Indian Tri-Colour by Mr. Sanjib Mondal, Honourable Panchayat Pradhan of Nayanbastia Miloni Gram Panchayat Committee. This august proceeding was cohosted by Mr. Debasish Mondal, President; Mr. Amit Kumar Das, Secretary; Mr. Ujjwal, Deputy Secretary respectively of the SVSS.

The officials of the Blood Bank had screened the aspiring blood donors before the phlebotomy. A total number of 45 (Forty-Five) “Good Samaritans” have exercised their compassionate and empathetic responsibilities, under the able coordination of Mrs. Dishani Mallick.

While the Venepuncture was eventually being formalised, volunteer-members – Good Samaritans, Rajiv Mallick, Sudarshan Mallick, and Amit Mondal were demonstratingly organising ‘Drawing Competition’ & ‘Recitations’ simultaneously amongst all age-groups “Parri-Passu”.

As a reverence to the day long socio-cultural activities, a cultural programme was organised in the late evening, with the felicitations of the “Judge-Trio” – “Mr. Sandip Basu for ‘drawing’” along with “Mr. Patita Paban Ghosh, and Mr. Kamal Krishna Paik for ‘recitation’”, followed by Prize Distributions.
