Kavitha Alleges BRS Funds Came Through ‘Quid Pro Quo’, Rules Out Return to Party
Hyderabad, July 2026 : Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) chief K. Kavitha on Thursday intensified her attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leadership, alleging that the party’s Rs 1,400 crore bank balance was accumulated through “quid pro quo” deals with contractors. She demanded that the money be distributed among the families of those who sacrificed their lives during the Telangana statehood movement.
Addressing employees of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in Kothagudem, Kavitha launched a fresh offensive against senior BRS leaders, including her brother and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) and her cousin, former minister T. Harish Rao, accusing them of large-scale corruption during the party’s tenure in power.
Declaring that there was no possibility of returning to the BRS, Kavitha said, “As long as I am alive, I will never rejoin the BRS.”
She alleged that the Rs 1,400 crore lying in the party’s bank accounts had come from alleged quid pro quo arrangements involving contractors from Andhra Pradesh. Calling it “corruption money,” she urged the BRS leadership to use the funds to support the families of Telangana martyrs.
“The party should distribute this money among the families of those who laid down their lives for Telangana. Every martyr’s family should receive Rs 1 crore,” she said.
Kavitha also levelled corruption charges against KTR, alleging that he had entered into questionable arrangements with a private construction company. Without producing evidence during her address, she claimed that these deals had financially benefited the party leadership.
She further accused Harish Rao of involvement in alleged irregularities related to the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, referring to him as an “Anaconda” while alleging that despite corruption allegations, he continued to enjoy prominence within the party.
“The BRS cannot reform itself and it will never return to power,” she asserted.
The Telangana Rakshana Sena chief also alleged that a company linked to Harish Rao was supplying milk to Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions. She demanded that the state government make it mandatory for all private educational institutions with more than 500 students to procure milk exclusively from Vijaya Dairy, arguing that such a move would strengthen the state’s cooperative dairy sector.
Highlighting her party’s policy priorities, Kavitha said that if the Telangana Rakshana Sena comes to power, it would review all land allotments made by both the previous BRS government and the current state administration to contractors from Andhra Pradesh.
“Every square yard of land allotted under such circumstances will be taken back,” she declared.
Kavitha also accused the BRS of attempting to prevent her party from securing the TRS acronym, alleging that its leaders had conspired to deny her organisation the name.
Responding to statements by BRS leaders claiming they were unconcerned about her new political outfit, she questioned why the party had allegedly submitted more than 1,000 complaints to the Election Commission of India if it truly viewed her party as insignificant.
Focusing on workers’ issues, Kavitha demanded that the government expedite the process of providing dependent employment in Singareni Collieries Company Limited by conducting medical board meetings twice every month.
She warned that if the government failed to make a clear announcement on the issue, she would launch a hunger strike in support of the affected families, asserting that the welfare of Singareni workers and their dependents remained one of her party’s top priorities.
