Major Crackdown Against Illegal Sale of Narcotic Substances on District Collector’s Orders – 110 Packets of Foreign Cigarettes Worth Over ₹13,000 Seized
Jaipur : Acting on the instructions of District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, a major crackdown was carried out by the Food Safety Officers and NTCP Cell against the illegal sale of narcotic substances. Chief Medical and Health Officer of Jaipur-I, Dr. Ravi Singh Shekhawat, stated that the action team raided Shrinath General Store located in Guru Nanakpura, Raja Park, and seized 110 packets of foreign cigarettes worth more than ₹13,000 under Section 7 of the COTPA Act, 2003.
He informed that during a meeting of the Narco Coordination Centre Committee held at the District Collectorate, Dr. Soni had instructed officials to take decisive action against the sale of illegal narcotic substances. This swift and effective operation was executed in compliance with those directives.
According to Dr. Shekhawat, the action was taken because the seized tobacco products did not comply with the provisions of the COTPA Act, which mandates that 85% of the packaging must display graphic warnings and the remaining portion must carry textual warnings. In accordance with legal provisions, a chargesheet has been filed against the accused in the District Sessions Court.
The action team included Food Safety Officers Mr. Naresh Kumar and Mr. Vinod Sharma, along with Mr. Arpit Sharma, District Coordinator of the COTPA Unit.
