Implement Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar City Water Supply Scheme by End of October – CM Devendra Fadnavis
All agencies must coordinate to expedite pending works
Mumbai : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed that the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar City Water Supply Scheme should be made operational by the end of October after completing all technical requirements. He also urged all concerned departments and agencies to coordinate and expedite pending works without delay. He was speaking during a review meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House regarding the city’s water supply scheme.
The CM emphasized that jackwell construction is crucial for water supply and instructed that it be completed by October to begin water extraction. He stated that the 26 MLD (Million Litres per Day) water supply phase of the project should be completed by the end of June. The Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) should promptly approve any pending works to ensure timely execution. The municipal corporation should schedule a shutdown for pipeline laying work after June 15, and contractors should complete this work by the end of August. The Right of Way (ROW) work should be resolved within a week, and contractors must complete at least 35 ESR (Elevated Storage Reservoirs) and GSR (Ground Storage Reservoirs), he added.
CM Fadnavis also instructed municipal commissioners to personally intervene and resolve any issues faced by contractors during implementation. He emphasized that contractors should ensure the timely availability of necessary equipment and manpower. Immediate planning should be done to operationalize the water storage tanks in the project, with tank construction to be completed between August and September. MJP and the municipal corporation should work in coordination to resolve issues quickly. To avoid work disruptions, urgent approval must be given for raising ₹822 crore in loan funds for the municipal corporation. The state government should cover any excess interest rate on this loan. He also directed that hydraulic taps for water supply be made operational, with the responsibility of maintenance and repair resting on the contractor.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated that if the contractor fails to complete the work on time, they will be blacklisted. He urged the police, municipal corporation, and MJP to work together to complete the project on schedule. Water storage tank construction should be prioritized and completed urgently.
