Chief Minister’s Chaupal Under the Gulmohar Tree: Vishnu Deo Sai Lands in Kanakbira, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh District
Announces bridge construction, community hall, girls’ hostel, and panchayat building
Raipur – As part of the final phase of the Su-Shasan Tihar (Good Governance Festival), Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s helicopter landed in Kanakbira village of Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district today. Under the shade of a blooming Gulmohar tree near the pre-matric boys’ hostel, the Chief Minister set up his Chaupal (village meeting) and interacted warmly with local residents while reviewing the implementation of various government schemes.
Calling it his privilege to meet the people, he said, “Being here today among you feels like being with family.”
Explaining the purpose of Su-Shasan Tihar, the Chief Minister said that in the first phase, the government received public applications, acted on them in the second phase, and in the third phase, the government has reached the villages directly. “In the past one and a half years, we have worked in the interest of the people. This festival is our report card and an opportunity to evaluate the implementation of welfare schemes on the ground,” he stated. Ministers, MPs, MLAs, the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries, and other senior officials are also participating across various locations.
Key Announcements and Interactions
Speaking to villagers, CM Sai highlighted key initiatives:
- 18 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana houses were sanctioned immediately after taking office, fulfilling Prime Minister Modi’s guarantee.
- Everyone listed under “Awas Plus” will also be given homes.
- Farmers’ promises have been upheld by procuring 21 quintals of paddy per acre at ₹3100 per quintal.
- Over 70 lakh women are receiving direct benefit transfers under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, empowering women economically. Those still excluded will soon be included.
- The Tendu leaves collection rate has been raised from ₹4000 to ₹5500.
- Under the Ramlalla Darshan Yojana, beneficiaries are being taken to visit Ayodhya.
- The Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana has been revived, enabling interested families to visit pilgrimage sites of their choice.
Digital and Administrative Reforms
CM Sai also informed that from April 24 onwards, Atal Digital Seva Kendras have been launched in gram panchayats, bringing banking and other services to villages. These are operational in 1,460 panchayats so far. Technology is being used to eliminate corruption, simplify land registration and mutation, and ensure transparency in PSC recruitment, where irregularities have been investigated and action taken.
Ground-Level Feedback and Rural Engagement
During his sudden visit to Kanakbira, the Chief Minister conversed with villagers in the local Chhattisgarhi dialect, seeking feedback on electricity, ration distribution, and benefits under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. He also reviewed the water supply status under the Jal Jeevan Mission, and encouraged farmers to diversify crops beyond paddy to maize, urad, and moong for better profits.
Infrastructure Announcements
The Chief Minister made several local development announcements:
- A bridge on the Nargi Khol-Lat drain near Kanakbira
- A community hall (Mangal Bhavan) and a girls’ hostel in Kanakbira
- A new panchayat building in Godam village
Personal Gestures of Warmth
During the Chaupal, the CM noticed former MLA Shri Shamsher Singh sitting on the ground. In a gesture of warmth, he invited him to sit beside him and acknowledged his ongoing service through social and temple work.
An emotional moment occurred when 85-year-old Bhagirathi Sahu, who had arrived at the Chaupal with a walking stick, attentively listened to the discussions. The CM greeted him personally and honored him by placing his own safa (traditional turban) around Sahu’s neck.
Prayers and Promises
Before departing, CM Sai offered prayers at the local Durga Temple in Kanakbira, seeking prosperity, peace, and good health for all residents of the state. He reassured the villagers that the government stands by every needy citizen, with public welfare remaining its topmost priority.
