Mrs. Bhuneshwari Becomes Self-Reliant Through Didi E-Rickshaw Assistance Scheme

Received ₹1 Lakh Subsidy, Established Self-Employment, and Found a Happy Life

Raipur : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the Labour Department is making significant efforts for the welfare of workers. One such inspiring story is that of Mrs. Bhuneshwari Sahu from Mowa, Raipur, whose life transformed through government support and her own determination.

Mrs. Bhuneshwari, who hails from a modest background, once worked as a daily wage labourer to support her family. Despite limited income and difficult circumstances, she never gave up. Fueled by a desire to become self-reliant, she persevered. Today, she stands as a symbol of empowerment, resilience, and hope, supported by her hard work and the welfare initiatives of the Chhattisgarh government.

About one and a half years ago, Mrs. Bhuneshwari availed the Didi E-Rickshaw Scheme, purchasing an e-rickshaw to start her own means of livelihood. The scheme, run by the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, provides a subsidy of ₹1 lakh to registered women workers for buying e-rickshaws. Taking advantage of this opportunity, she not only established her own source of income but also proved that with courage and support, women can become self-sufficient and reach new heights.

Mrs. Bhuneshwari now drives her e-rickshaw for 6 to 8 hours daily. With the income earned, she manages her household expenses and also supports her children’s education. She regularly pays her EMI and dreams of expanding her business in the future. She believes that self-employment is not just a source of income but a symbol of dignity and self-respect.

Reflecting on her journey, she says, “Earlier, I worked as a labourer and struggled to run my home. But I always dreamed of doing something of my own to secure a better future for myself and my children. When I registered with the Construction Workers Welfare Board, I came to know about various government self-employment schemes for women. The Didi E-Rickshaw scheme felt like the right opportunity. I applied with courage, and today I’m living the result.”

Expressing gratitude, Mrs. Bhuneshwari says government schemes like these are a boon for workers like her. “Today, I stand on my own feet, support my family, and live with dignity. I thank the Chhattisgarh government and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, whose vision and initiatives have enabled women like me to lead a respected and fulfilling life.”
