Thane Creek Bridge No. 3 Southbound to Ease Traffic Congestion on Vashi Bridge – CM Devendra Fadnavis

Thane : The newly opened Thane Creek Bridge No. 3 southbound lane is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on the Vashi Bridge, saving valuable time and fuel for lakhs of commuters, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The bridge, located on the Sion–Panvel Highway, was inaugurated virtually by CM Fadnavis.

Speaking at the event, CM Fadnavis also mentioned that the ‘Missing Link’ project on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway will be completed soon, making travel between Mumbai and Pune faster, smoother, and safer.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse, PWD Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale, FDA and Special Assistance Minister Narahari Zirwal, MoS Meghna Sakore Borde, and local MLAs Kisan Kathore, Niranjan Davkhare, and Shantaram Bhoir. Senior officials present included PWD Secretary Manisha Mhaiskar, MSRDC Vice-Chairman Anil Gaikwad, and Thane Collector Ashok Shingare.

Key Highlights of Thane Creek Bridge No. 3 Southbound:

Previously, two bridges operated between Mankhurd and Vashi across the Thane Creek. This new third bridge is expected to ease the traffic load on the existing ones. Both northbound and southbound lanes connecting Mumbai to Navi Mumbai and vice versa have been fully constructed.

Each carriageway built over the creek spans 3.18 kilometers. The bridge, constructed in a challenging marine environment, stands as a remarkable feat of engineering and is being hailed as a model of technical excellence. The use of modern construction technology in building this bridge is a matter of pride for Maharashtra, said CM Fadnavis.
