CM Bhajanlal Sharma Inspects Key Water Projects Linking Chambal River
CM Bhajanlal Sharma Conducts Aerial Inspection of Under-Construction Isarda Dam and Chambal Aqueduct Works; Water from Ramgarh, Mahlpur, and Navnera Barrages to Cross Chambal River and Reach Mej Barrage
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Thursday conducted an aerial survey of various components of the revised Parvati–Kalisindh–Chambal (PKC) link project. He inspected the under-construction Isarda Dam, the newly built Navnera Barrage, and the Chambal River aqueduct construction sites. CM Sharma also reviewed progress on the key aqueduct of the Ram Jal Setu Link Project (a revised version of the PKC project), emphasizing its importance as a major step toward interlinking water resources. He stated that the project would serve as a milestone for water conservation and expansion of irrigation.
After the inspection, CM Sharma issued necessary directives to the officials. He emphasized that the works must be completed on time with assured quality, to ensure timely and adequate water availability to the public. He also instructed that construction of the proposed pump house near the Navnera Barrage be initiated at the earliest.
Officials from the Water Resources Department informed the Chief Minister that, through this aqueduct, water from Ramgarh Barrage (on Kuhl River), Mahlpur Barrage (on Parvati River), and Navnera Barrage (on Kalisindh River) will cross the Chambal River and be diverted to the Mej Barrage. From there, water will be lifted to Bisalpur and Isarda Dams using a lift irrigation system. The aqueduct, which is 2,280 meters long, will connect Pipalda Samel village in Kota district with Gohata village in Bundi district.
The construction of this aqueduct is expected to strengthen water management systems and also provide a new all-weather road link between Sultanpur Tehsil of Kota and the Kota–Sawai Madhopur Highway via Bundi. Additional Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department, Abhay Kumar, and other senior officials accompanied the Chief Minister during the aerial inspection.
