Lucknow : In a landmark move to recognise young sporting talent, the Yogi government has launched the Mukhyamantri Vidyalayi Khel Puraskar (2024–25). For the first time in Uttar Pradesh, students excelling in the National School Games will be formally honoured. On June 12, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will felicitate gold medalists at a state-level ceremony at Lok Bhavan, while silver and bronze medalists will be recognised at the district level. A total of 363 student-athletes from UP’s council schools participated in the 68th National School Games, winning 179 medals—including 51 gold, 46 silver, and 82 bronze—across more than 20 sports disciplines.

The Chief Minister will present cash prizes, certificates, medals, and shields to gold medal-winning students during the state-level ceremony. A total of 87 athletes (73 boys and 14 girls) who secured 51 gold medals will be honoured. Individual gold medallists will receive Rs 75,000 each, while team gold medallists will be awarded Rs 35,000 each.
Simultaneously, district-level ceremonies will be held across all 75 districts of the state, where silver and bronze medallists will be felicitated by district magistrates, ministers in charge, MLAs, or other local representatives. A total of 94 players (63 boys and 31 girls) who won 46 silver medals will be awarded Rs 50,000 each in the individual category and Rs 25,000 each for team events.
Similarly, 182 players (111 boys and 71 girls) who secured 82 bronze medals will be honoured. Individual bronze medallists will receive Rs 30,000, while team event bronze medallists will be awarded Rs 15,000 each.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to nurturing a strong sports culture in Uttar Pradesh and motivating young athletes to consider sports as a viable and rewarding career path.
