Eastern Railways jumps off the Rail.
The Howrah Division of Eastern Railway, under the leadership of Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, has launched “Dharti Saathi On Wheels”, a mobile awareness unit aimed at promoting

environmental responsibility and ending plastic pollution. Developed by the Environment and Housekeeping Management (EnHM) department in collaboration with Garbage Free India, this initiative brings sustainability education directly to railway colonies and nearby communities.
The van, equipped with interactive displays, educational materials, and smart dustbins that alert when full, demonstrates real-time waste management practices. It focuses on educating frontline waste workers, schoolchildren, and residents through experiential learning and community engagement.
As part of the My Environment My Responsibility campaign, this grassroots initiative seeks to foster long-term behavioural change and make railway colonies models of civic responsibility. Eastern Railway officials believe this innovative approach will pave the way for a cleaner, greener future.
